What is a simile?What is a simile?Similes are figures of speech. Similes is a

comparison between two or more unlike objects or things using like or as.

A simile is a tool we use to expand our writing, making it more interesting. Speakers and writers use similes to emphasize a certain characteristic of a thing.

Example:

The stars are like sparkly diamonds in the sky. The kitten is as fluffy as a cotton ball.

About SimilesAbout SimilesThe word ‘simile’ comes from the same

Latin word as ‘similar’: both mean being alike in some way. It is an imaginative way to describe something by comparing it to something else.
