What is a simile?What is a simile?Similes are figures of speech. Similes is a
comparison between two or more unlike objects or things using like or as.
A simile is a tool we use to expand our writing, making it more interesting. Speakers and writers use similes to emphasize a certain characteristic of a thing.
Example:
The stars are like sparkly diamonds in the sky. The kitten is as fluffy as a cotton ball.

Latin word as ‘similar’: both mean being alike in some way. It is an imaginative way to describe something by comparing it to something else.

1. Brainstorm a list of 10 things you absolutely love.
2. Be prepared to switch your similes with a partner.
3. Now create similes with them – compare them to other things to show how much you love them.
