REGULATION 5.1.9 - SAFETY Philosophy and Concept 58. Safety precautions and instructions are published in MINDEF policy and required by government legislation. Within maintenance publications and instructions, warnings and cautions are provided to ensure safety of personnel and protection of equipment during particular maintenance processes. Every person involved in maintenance is responsible not only for their own safety, but also the safety of subordinates and others within the workplace. This regulation requires that AMOs comply with all safety requirements authorised by DGTA and the relevant AEO.

The objective of SMS is to identify the safety hazards the organization must confront, and that in many cases it generates, during delivery of services, and to bring the safety risks of the consequences of these hazards under organizational control.

The AMO shall establish, document, implement, maintain and continually improve an integrated Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with the OSH Legal Requirements and ICAO standard requirements.
