Principal’s Report
Dear Parents, School Council News One of the responsibilities of school council is overseeing our school buildings and grounds. With limited funds, school council plans projects and conducts working bees to assist in improving and maintaining our facilities. This year we have had several working bees and another working bee is due to be held in December. Our Front Entrance Project stemmed from a need to improve our access and make our entrance a welcoming and inviting place for our school community and for visitors. This was achieved through volunteer labour, support of local businesses and residents and donated materials. Our School Council and our Farmworld Delivery Service committee have planned over the past few years to use the funds raised from Farmworld to erect a sheltered area in the school. Originally this was thought to be a 5 year project. We are please to announce that after considering several quotes at this week’s meeting, School Council has selected a supplier/builder to install a large 21.0 x 11.2 x 4.2 metre shelter on our concrete playground area in front of the BER building. The cost has come in below what was expected which means we have been able to achieve in 3 years, what was expected to be 5 years. We are now working with the builder, Total Span, to have the shelter erected as soon a possible, most likely in time for the start of the 2019 school year. Auction Night—TONIGHT! Our Parents for Fundraising will be holding an Auction Night on Friday 26th October at the Drouin South Hall. The doors will open at 5.45pm. Bids will commence from 6pm and will run for 1 HOUR ONLY. You will need to get in to snare a bargain or two!! State Athletics Good luck to Charlie, Kira and Hayley, our State level athletes at next week’s State Athletics Championships!! We wish you well. T20 Cricket at Buln Buln We have around 10 students taking part in the T20 schools Kanga Cricket competition at Buln Buln next week. Thank you to Kristy Rollinson for organising the team and providing some coaching for them. There is no cost and travel will be by private car. A note will be sent home with the children involved. End of Year Dates Please keep an eye open for up-coming dates on our newsletter. There are many events due to take place during Term 4 and as dates are confirmed we will publish them each week in the calendar section on the front page of the newsletter. Events include school concert, Grade 6 Graduation, Transition days, incursions, working bees and other important events.
