Call to Worship (II Corinthians 1:3-4)

One: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies

and the God of all consolation,

All: Who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console

those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we

ourselves are consoled by God.

Hymn #783 When We Are Tested

Prayer of Confession

Holy God, we come before You in humility, for we do not live as we ought.

We do not love You with our whole heart and mind and strength. We do

not love our neighbor as ourselves. So we pray, in all humility, that You

will change our hearts and minds, that You will show us again how to love

others the way You love us, that You will put power and courage in our

hearts to do your will. This we pray in Jesus’ name and for His sake. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness

Leader: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting unto everlasting. As far as the

East is from the West, so far has God removed our transgression from us.

in the name of Jesus Christ, we are all forgiven.

People: Thanks be to God.

Friends,

You have made such a difference in my overall wellbeing of late, and I must

send a big Thank You! Your prayers are felt daily, in fact I have the most

lovely prayer shawl-of-many-colors to wear, which reminds me of your loving

spirits. May I also give special thanks to Reecie for that!

Bless you all,

ANNOUNCEMENTS and OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE

Blessing of the Animals - Today, 5:00 p.m.

Our annual Animal Blessing service is today on the

front lawn of the church. Bring your pets on an appro-

priate leash or in an appropriate carrier to participate.

We’ll have snacks for pets and people following the ser-

vice. As always, friends and neighbors are welcome.

Adult Discipleship Highlights:

Current Events over Coffee or Your Beverage of Choice. How do we come to

grips with the dynamics pushing at the church today? We don’t have all the answers,

but conversation with others is a good place to start. Sign up to be a part of a group

−whether it is in a coffeehouse, a pub, or your own home−starting in mid-October.

Sign up at The Station or contact Nelson Thurman [email protected].
