Higher Mother Tongue

(HMT) & 3rd Languages HOD/MT

Who is eligible to offer HMT?

• Top 10% of the PSLE cohort or

• Top 11%-30% band with A* grade in

MT or at least a Merit in HMT

• From 2019, we are offering HMT to

all Sec 1 students.


Form A


Advantages for Offering HMT

• Students with at least a C6 in EL and D7 in HMT

will be exempted from offering MT at

A-level

• O-Level students with a pass in both EL and HMT

may use 2 bonus points for admission to Junior

College (JC)

• HMT may be used to replace EL as first

language in the calculation of L1R5 for JC

admission


1-year Probation for HMT

• School will allow all Sec 1 students to offer

HMT on 1-year probation.

• The student’s results will be reviewed at

the end of Sec 1 to determine if she could

continue with HMT.


3rd Languages offered at Cedar

MALAY SPECIAL PROG (MSP)


Chinese (Special Prog)(CSP)/

Malay (Special Prog)(MSP)

All Sec 1 students who do not offer

Malay or Chinese as their MTL, are

eligible to offer MSP or CSP as a third

language respectively.


CSP / MSP


Advantages of offering CSP/MSP

Students who pass CSP/MSP at O-Level

• will be awarded 2 bonus points for

admission to Junior College(JC).

• will be allowed to use CSP/MSP grade

in-lieu of Humanities


• Those who are taking MSP will be eligible for RSP

• It is a 4 to 6 year scholarship programme given by

MOE

• The RSP is non-examinable and lessons are

conducted during 1 period weekly

• Students will engage in active discussion and impart

their ideas through presentations and project-based

task assigned

• Cultural enrichment and immersion programme to

regional countries annually subsidized by MOE

Selection Criteria for

offering CSP/MSP

If the number of applicants exceeds

that of vacancies, selection will be

based on the applicant’s PSLE results.


Application Procedure

for CSP/MSP

If you wish to apply for CSP/MSP for your

daughter, please collect an application

form from the Enquiry Booth or General

Office and return the completed form,

together with a photocopy of your child’s

PSLE RESULT SLIP, stating the

Aggregate Score to the General Office by

Friday 4 Jan 2019.


3rd Language Registration

(except CSP & MSP)

• Please register at your assigned language

centre (Bishan Campus) on Friday 28 Dec

2018, between 8.30 am to 5.00 pm

• Please present your Student Pass or Birth

Cert for registration

• Places that are not taken up on Fri 28 Dec

2018, will be reallocated to other applicants


3rd Language Registration

• Please register at the school General

Office on Friday 4 Jan 2019, between 8.30
