Drama and ghost stories

p. 2

Ireland's literature is the greatest regarding English-speaking countries. First of all, Ireland is the cradle of some tremendous and highly influen-tial writers such as James Joyce and Oscar Wilde. In addition, Ireland has built a good reputation around the quality of its short stories and playwrites made by authors just as Samuel Beckett. What is more, Ireland has not stopped producing men of letters; there are examples of well-known contemporary authors, i.e. Bram Stocker (Dracula) and C. S. Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia). All in all, it is not a lunacy to consider Irish literature as the most rele-vant within the anglosphere.

One of the aspects that is common among all the stories is the presence of drama. There are two dramatic situations that can be recognized inside all the texts: on one hand, the death of a character, who is not always the protagonist (for example, in "The Ghost in the Bank of England") and on the other hand, the misfortune or grievance suffered by other characters as a result of that decease (ex-cept for "The Italian's Story"). For instance, in "The man with two shadows", George Mason's death caused an acute affliction on her widow and, at the same time, drove Vincent Grieve (his murder) crazy. To conclude, it is possible to say that drama is a recurrent element within ghost stories, as can be seen throughout these seven stories.

Hanoi: a delightful destination

p. 3

IHanoi, the second largest city in Vietnam and also its capital, is a great destination due to many reasons that include its sights, the things to do and facts that could interest you.

Regarding the latter, it is possible to list a set of important places that should be visited by tourists: for instance, the impressive and magnificent Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, located at Ba Dihn Square, that serves as a memorial for the leader who modernized the country. Other awe-inspiring temples can be found; one singularity is the pagoda-style of most of them, i.e. The temple of Literature.

Apart from its buildings, Hanoi has other astonishing places just as their colourful and hectic streets, striking boulevards and eateries where you can find a variety of dishes that goes from rice noodles to veggie burgers. What is more, there are some amusing activities such as attending displays of water puppetry, an antique Vietnamiese art; or going for a ride in a bicycle around the West Lake.

To complement, it is possible to add some quirky facts about this appealing city. For example, the Long Bien bridge was designed by the reowned architect Gustave Eiffel, Hanoi is a common honeymoon destination for newly married couples and there is a outlandish green lake where there is said to be a gigantic golden tourtoise.

On the whole, taking into account everything, it is reasonable to describe Hanoi as a charming city with many singularities which make it a great destination for sightseers, particularly, for those who want to discover the wonders of this Asian pearl.

Sports facilities in Bogotá

p. 4

Bogotá is a city where their inhabitants enjoy practicing sports due to the great quantity of sports facilities that there are. On one hand, some of the most important ones are golf courts that are located within social clubs such as Los Lagartos and La Florida; on the other hand, taking into account soccer’s popularity, there are many places to practice it just as El Camp-incito, El Tabora Park Stadium and El Olaya Park Stadium.

Moreover, there are some sports complexes with facilities for several sports: that is the case of El Salitre Sports Complex, Centro de Alto Rendimiento and Compensar Recreation Center. Finally, it is needed to be said that in Bogota there are various places to practice other traditional sports, i. e. Hermes Barros Cabas Stadium (baseball), Bogotá Tennis Club, Simon Bolívar Aquatic Complex and Primera de Mayo Velodrome.

Dear Mr. Williams, I write this letter in order to ask for further details about Big Ben School, yet have I read your advertisement. In first term, I would like to know about the number of students that will be in the school and in each class. Another query has to do with the qualifications that the teachers have. In addition, I want to find out all the resources the institution has, taking into account that is a well-equipped school. Moreover, anoth-er matter I am interested in is in the charges: what is included in the price? Finally, I wish to have some information related to the amenities in the area. Looking forward to receiving your reply.

Sincerely, Camilo Rodríguez.
