About Old MissionGazette Old Mission Gazette is an online newspaper based on the Old Mission Peninsula, an 18-mile piece of land stretching into Lake Michigan north of Traverse City, Michigan. Owned and published by Old Mission Peninsula residents, Old Mission Gazette is the OMP's only daily news source. It is also the recipient of the 2018 award for Investigative Journalism from the Northern Michigan Environmental Action Council (NMEAC), and editor Jane Johnson Boursaw won the 2018 Red Hot Best of Northern Michigan award for Best Newspaper Reporter. 

About the Editor A lifelong resident of the Old Mission Peninsula and the daughter of cherry farmers, Jane Johnson Boursaw is a prolific, web-savvy photojournalist who has written for the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle, Ladies’ Home Journal, Times of London & many other publications.  Jane's family goes back six generations on the Old Mission Peninsula. Her dad, Walter Johnson, helped to found the Purchase of Development Rights program on the Peninsula, and her mom, Mary Johnson, played the organ at OMP United Methodist Church (aka Ogdensburg) for 50+ years. Jane's brothers, Dean Johnson and Ward Johnson, continue to farm cherries, apples, grapes and other produce on the Peninsula. Jane is married to Tim Boursaw, also a lifelong OMP native, and they have two kids, Will and Marissa.
