OmniMount® Systems havebeen specified and installedboth safely and productively formany years. With theextraordinarily variedapplications and installationadvantages of OmniMountproducts, it is important tobecome fully aware of theguidelines and specificationswe have set forth here. Themore familiar you become withOmniMount assemblies, themore time-saving uses you’relikely to find for them. The

patented OmniMount Systemsball and clamp assembly workswith a variety of ball shaftlengths and bendconfigurations, wall brackets, mounting plates, plumbing pipe,all-thread rod adapters andaccessories---all in many sizesand load handling capabilities.

OmniMount products arecarefully engineered and qualitymanufactured in the U.S.A. They are built to do their job

efficiently for a long time

OmniMount assemblies are ofindustrial quality, but they’re notindustrial looking. Functionaldesign makes for special goodlooks, creating a clean, uncluttered installation.Specifying OmniMountproducts eliminates the needfor welding or customfabricating expensive brackets. And you’ll no longer have tosettle for unsightly and time-consuming “nuts & bolts”alternatives.

For Your Information/Some General Things for You to Know

...About the objectyou’re mounting

“OmniMount Prepped” refers toobjects that can be fitted directlyto OmniMount products. Theseobjects contain factory installedthreaded inserts, engineered anddesigned by the manufacturer. The inserts are intended toprovide safe support when theobject is mounted. Manyloudspeakers have them, as domost security cameras. If no factory inserts have beenprovided, then it is you who willhave to evaluate the strength ofthe object and the integrity of thematerials it’s made of. Theconstruction of the object mustbe at least sturdy enough tosupport its own weight over time, especially at the point ofattachment to the OmniMountassembly.

...And what you’re mounting onto

Careful evaluation must be madeof the surfaces you will bemounting onto. Adequatestrength, composition, andconstruction of these surfacesare obviously crucial to a safeand secure installation.Specify and use the appropriate

interfacing hardware. Select theright type, size and combinationof fasteners to support the loadsafely. Consider carefully andplan for all installation conditionsand variables. “How much doesit weigh?” This is probably thefirst question that comes to mindwhen deciding to mountsomething on the wall or ceiling. But mounting any object safelyand properly also requires carefulconsideration of the object’soverall size (height x width xdepth), its center of gravity, distribution of load, and whetheror not dynamic loading will beacting upon it.

Static/Stationary Load-vs.-Active/ PotentialDynamic LoadAn OmniMount assemblyattached to a solid wall, where noexternal motion forces are atplay, is an example of astatic/stationary load installation. An OmniMount assemblyattached to a surface inside amoving vehicle subjects themounted object to an activedynamic load situation. As anexample of a potential dynamicload installation, consider a ballthrown astray in a sports venue

and how it could impact amounted object. The best way to compensate fordynamic loading is to choose anOmniMount assembly capable ofsupporting greater weight thanthe object itself. This usuallymeans choosing the samemodel, but with the next higherseries number.

For product selectionyou’ll need to knowthree basic things...1. The location of the mountingsurfaces: That is, on the wall, ceiling, floor deck, or other place. And where, on the object itself, the OmniMount assembly will besecured---on the top, on theback, on the bottom, or on theside.

2. The weight of the object tobe mounted: Use the weightchart on page 10 as a guide.

3. The overall dimensions ofthe object: The height, width, and depth of it. This informationis required to choose accuratelythe OmniMount model that willbest fit the object your mountingand best fit in the space available for it.

Threaded Rod and Pipe Adapters

DUAL PIVOT POINT ADJUSTABILITYTwo ST or STX Models, coupled together at each end, provide a mounting option with two pivot points. Both ball shafts are threaded and coupled end-to-end into a TA adapter. Among otherspecialized applications, this accessory provides ameans of compensating for the slope of vaultedceilings so that what is mounted can be suspendedgenerally perpendicular to the floor and parallel to thewalls. This dual pivot point configuration solvesproblems commonly encountered in church ceilinginstallations, for example.

When greater distance is required from the ceiling mounting surface to a predetermined optimum speaker height, this combination will provide a flexible solution. Once the desired speaker height is determined, a length of “all-thread” or threaded rod (available at the hardware store) is cut to the appropriate length.A flat mounting plate is secured to the ceiling and to one end of the threaded rod, while a coupler affixes the OmniMount clamp assembly and speaker at the opposite end. The wiring and rod can be dressed down and hidden by an easily attached cosmetic tube called “split loom” (specify the length required). All components except threaded rod are provided by OmniMount Systems.

OmniMount Systems has available adapters that fit the standard 5/8" thread on a microphone stand. This provides a means of locating the speaker when placement is intended to be temporary. (The microphone stand provided by others).

All options are available for both 25 and 53 series.

25 Series ball shaft has 1/4-20 thread

53 Series ball shaft has 3/8-16 thread

Clips onto both sides of “T” bar support and above the T-bar. A small hole at the top of the assembly allows a wire to pass through and attach to a substrate above the suspended ceiling. This option is useful where added support is a concern.

In addition to the options shown here, many more installation options are available, including adapters for mounting from I-beams, trusses, space frames and lighting grids.

For installation assistance with special mounting requirements — or if you need more information, contact OmniMount Systems technical support.

Coupling two OmniMount models end to end offers a solution for sloped or pitched ceilings — and also provides two pivot points for extra flexibility in positioning.
