For example, if you firstuse the pass on September 15, the pass is good throughOctober 15. The first time you insert your pass into thefarebox card reader on the bus, the farebox card readerwill print the effective dates right on the pass for you.7-day Passes7-day Passes work much like a 31-Day pass – the passis good for seven days, beginning with the first use. Forexample, if you first use the pass on Friday, September19, it will be good through Thursday, September 25.And just like the 31-Day pass, the farebox card readerwill print the effective dates on the pass for you whenyou activate the pass.day PassesDay Passes are good for one day of unlimited travel onall local Omnitrans buses. TRansFeRs: FOOThill and RTa Omnitrans does not issue transfers to its passengers.If you need to change buses to complete your trip, orneed to travel past the end of the line on a route, youwill have to pay another fare when you board thenext bus, unless you purchase a 1-Day, 7-Day or 31-Day pass.

You may use your Omnitrans pass as a transfer toFoothill Transit at the Montclair Transit Center andthe Pomona Transit Center. You may use yourOmnitrans pass to transfer to Riverside Transitagency (RTa) where Omnitrans and RTA share abus stop such as the VA Hospital in Loma Linda,Mulberry and Marley in Fontana, the RiversideTransit Center and the Highgrove Library inRiverside County. Omnitrans does not accept freetransfers from Beaumont Pass Transit and VictorValley Transit; Beamont Pass Transit does notaccept free transfers from Omnitrans.

meTROlinK TRansFeRsYou may use your one-way Metrolink ticket for onefree ride on Omnitrans bus departing a Metrolinkstation. You can also use your round trip Metrolinkticket or multi-day pass for one Omnitrans bus tripto and from a Metrolink station.Metrolink ticket/pass must be valid for date oftravel. Show to driver when boarding. Valid onconnecting routes only. See pg. 17 for more details.

Passengers using aTAP card can receive a free transfer onto anOmnitrans bus only where Foothill Transit andOmnitrans connect, AND when the TAP card isaccompanied by a paper transfer issued by FoothillTransit. An Orange Disability and Senior TAP cardcan be used as ID to qualify for a reduced fareonboard Omnitrans buses, but it cannot be used toride Omnitrans Access Service.

Timepoint – Selected stops along a route that are printed in theBus Book to give customers the route’s direction and schedule.Timepoints are also used by our drivers to keep buses onschedule. Transfer Point – Stops where you can transfer to other Omnitransroutes to complete your trip. Transfer points are shown with thesymbol at right on route maps. A list of all connecting routenumbers is attached to transfer points on route maps. At TransitCenters and a few selected locations, you also can connect withother transit systems (see page 4 for a list of inter-agency transferpoints).

Tripper service – This means that the route deviates from its regularpath at specific times of the day, to make a special pick-up. Often, this isdone to pick students up from a school.

Peak Only – This type of service only operates during “peak,” orbusiest, travel times. For example, a route may operate only for a fewmorning and afternoon trips.

end of the line – Indicates that the bus has completed its route andwill begin a new trip. Buses only drop passengers off at the end of line.If you’re already on the bus and want to continue riding after it hasreached the end of the line, you must pay a new fare.

arrivals and departures – A schedule may have two columns of timelisted under a specific timepoint, with an “A” under one and “D” underthe other. This means that the bus will arrive at the timepoint at the firsttime, then wait a few minutes and depart from the stop at the secondtime listed.

BIKE & RIDE WITH OMNITRANS BIKE RACKS!Regular Omnitrans buses are equipped with a bike rack on the front bumper than can hold two or three bikes. Bike rackscan be used anytime during service hours, free of charge. Tire size must be at least 20” in diameter, which excludes mostchildren’s bikes and motorized scooters. Children under age 14 can only use the racks if accompanied by a bus-riding adult.Omnitrans is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged bikes. Owners assume all risk for transported bikes and areresponsible for loading and loading bikes. Bikes are not allowed onboard regular buses. For safety reasons, your driver isnot allowed to help load or unload your bike.

Bike loading and unloading steps:1. Have your bike at the curb ready to load. Signal to your driver. Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop and then tell

your driver you will be loading a bike. 2. Go to the front of the bus and lower the bike rack from the folded position.3. Lift your bike onto the rack and raise the support arm over the front tire. 4. Before exiting, tell your driver you want to unload the bike. To unload, pull the support arm out and down over the front tire, lift your

bike onto the curb, fold the rack up to the locked position, step away from bus and signal the driver to let him know you are finished.

between the metal bars. Secure bike using the nylon strap, fastened to the metal railing above racks.


all Omnitrans buses are equipped with lifts or ramps toboard passengers with wheelchairs and other mobility devices.WhO may use The liFT/RamP?• The lift/ramp may be used by persons with disabilities who cannot step onto the bus to

board, including: riders using wheelchairs, scooters, orthopedic strollers, or similar mobility devices.

• Passengers using walkers, canes, crutches, or portable oxygen units, may use the ramp.

• Passengers who are not able to step onto the bus may use the ramp.

• Omnitrans buses can also “kneel” on request for easier boarding by orthopedically-challenged riders. Some stop locations may not be suitable for “kneeling”.

• Drivers will make every attempt to accommodate the rider’s mobility device. The mobility device must safely fit onto the lift platform and the lift must be able to safely raise the mobility device and its occupant. Service can be refused If the mobility device and its occupant cannot safely utilize the lift to board the vehicle.

WhO may nOT use The RamP?• Riders with retail shopping carts, wagons or regular baby strollers.• Personal Care Attendants and companions of persons qualified to use the lift/ramp.

BOaRdinGWait at the bus stop and indicate to the driver that you need to use the lift/ramp. Position yourself to be in the clear as itdeploys. When the bus pulls up to the curb, just let the coach operator know that you need to use the ramp and they’ll behappy to deploy it for you. The ramp is located at the front of the bus; just look for the wheelchair symbol on the bus’ door.

Be sure to position yourself so that you’re clear of the ramp as it deploys. Your coach operator will let you know when it’ssafe to move on to the ramp.

When you’re all set, pay your fare and give your coach operator your destination. This will help to ensure that the bus ispositioned correctly at the stop, so that you can conveniently exit the bus.

in according with the Code of Federal Regulation 49, subpart G, 37.165 (c) 1.3, your coachoperator will secure your mobility device with clamps or straps that are stored on all buses.Coach Operators will decline to provide service to a rider who refuses to allow his or her mobilitydevice to be secured.

eXiTinG• When the bus stops, please be patient as your coach operator allows other customers to

board and exit the bus. As soon as everyone’s on board, your mobility device will be released from its safety clamp/belts.

• Wait for the driver to tell you to move on to the platform. When on the lift, set the brake on your wheelchair or mobility device; if you are standing, hold onto the handrails for support.

• When exiting, wait until the lift has reached the ground and the safety barrier has dropped before moving off the platform.

sBX VehiCles OFFeR: • Front and backward facing riding positions for mobility devices.• The ability to self-secure your mobility device without any assistance.

• sbX stations offer level boarding with bridge plates, shown at right, to span the gap between platform and vehicle.

service animalsDesignated service animals are welcome to ride the bus free of charge. Please note thatyour driver may ask if your animal is a service animal, and what tasks the animal has beentrained to perform. You also may be asked to remove your service animal from the bus if1) the animal’s behavior is out of control, and you do not take effective action to control it;or 2) the animal poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others. Pets may only ridethe bus if they are in a secure pet carrier that fits on your lap.
