I would like to say hello to all the One Mission Society supporters out

there. This is my first opportunity to introduce myself, having joined the OMS team late last year. Since going on a short term mission in my teens, God has been challenging me to not only commit to Him daily, but to give my life serving Him. For a while, I was able to do this through various local activities, until one day He said, “Go.” So I did. “Go where?” was my response. It took a lot of prayer and counsel from many friends, and eventually Thailand became the where.

Let’s just say, all along the way, God has guided me and confirmed His plans, and given me a passion for the lost here in Thailand. Many of you will have enjoyed some time in Thailand, as it is a preferred destination for Austra-lians and quite easy to visit and to enjoy some of the beauty, the beaches and the bargains. However, there are many challenges to a servant’s (I don’t like being a “missionary”) life here. I will look at sharing these in subsequent

newsletters because I want to tell you about the team I am working with.

I am a slightly different style of missionary, as I am not working out on my own here, but with an established development foundation. We are The River Team (www.theriver-hd.org) and our main focus is community transformation, people connecting to people and sharing the love of Jesus, through weekly activities, visitation and random acts of

kindness. The foundation leaders have been in Thailand for 18 years, and have seen whole villages come to Jesus. Our team is currently about 60 people, including Thai nationals, various hill tribes groups and a few “farangs” (foreigners).

Our hub of operations is in Hangdong, just south of Chiang Mai, but we have ministry in several other area of the north, as well as a new and exciting work in “the south”. Due to

the current situation exact details cannot be shared but please pray for us as we have many open doors and we are seeing many things that shouldn’t happen, actually happen, it’s very exciting.

My main weekly activities include getting out into the locals schools teaching English, being a Kids Club leader, help-ing with some of the IT requirements, hosting teams, administration and communications, gardening, driving and basically getting in alongside our team helping where I can. I am also spending some of my “spare” time in language

acquisition, which is quite challenging.

I am so excited to be here in Thailand and on board with OMS and I would like to say thank you for those of you

who are praying for me in my ministry here.
