Wisting DevelopmentINTSOK Networking Meeting, Ålesund September 2016

ORIGINALY since 1955 it meant: ÖMV
Ö = Østerrike
M = Mineralolje
V = Forvaltning
Can be seen as a „Statoil“ i Østerrike
But the English Speaking world has a problem with Ø/Ö
So now it is OMV only (….and means nothing)
But maybe some Skijumping fans recognise our LOGO ?
OMV: Would you know us?

Franz Josef Land: Discovered August 1872
From North Cape ~ same distance as to Oslo
4 | OMV (Norge) AS, INTSOK - Arctic and Cold Climate Solutions, Ålesund 15 September 2016
Start in Tromsö July1872 (with EllingCarlsen)
Ship frozen in ice atFranz Josef Land
3 dogsledge trips (840 km) to map & exploreislands
Abandoned ship after 2 years & draggedboats to open water
Back to Vardø via Novaja Semlja
HSE: 1 fatality due tosickness (TBC)
F. Nansen & Johansen in winter 1895/96 (Fram)
Early Explorers: Julius Payer & Carl WeyprechtØsterriksk-Ungarsk Ekspedisjon 1872-1874

Wisting is a very shallow, unique accummulation
Low temperature & pressure
6 major segments
1)Wisting Central (2013)
2)Wisting Central West (2016)
3)Wisting Central South (2016)
4)Hanssen (2014)
5)Bjaaland (2015, residual oil)
6)Hassel (undrilled)
We have drilled enough segments
to progress towards development

First subsea ultra shallow reservoir extended reach well
First subsea horizontal appraisal well in Barents Sea
High build-rate enabled successfullhorizontal trajectory in the 12 ¼ section
Efficient horizontal drilling in a shallow reservoir
Managed to drill through several faults despite extensive losses
Well design changes implemented successfully based on information from offset wells, data gathering and modelling
Horizontal Well Concept and Achievements

Actual Well Trajectory on Pre-Drill X- Section
10 | OMV (Norge) AS, INTSOK - Arctic and Cold Climate Solutions, Ålesund 15 September 2016
► Shallow reservoir – 250m below seabed
► Good quality sands
► Reservoir conditions
► Low Pressure - 70 bars
► Low Temperature - 17°C
► Current reference case includes:
► Water injection as drive mechanism
► Horizontal production wells
► Subsea multi-phase pumps
Reservoir Characteristics
11 | OMV (Norge) AS, INTSOK - Arctic and Cold Climate Solutions, Ålesund 15 September 2016
Floating structure (FPSO ship shaped, cylindrical, semi or TLP + FSU)
400m water depth
Pressure boosting pumps located sub-sea/or down hole
Low pressure reservoir – 70barg
Produced gas is re-injected or used as fuel gas
Low GOR 30-50m3/m3 (export unlikely, need gas for turbines)
Oil export via tanker offloading
Currently no oil pipeline infrastructure
All produced water re-injected
Barents requirement
Facilities Concept (common for all cases)
12 | OMV (Norge) AS, INTSOK - Arctic and Cold Climate Solutions, Ålesund 15 September 2016
Facilities CAPEX assumptions – Base case
110 000 bbl./day FPSO
5 production risers
5 water injection risers
1 gas injection riser
5 x 100%
Sub-sea multiphase
boosting pumps
Wet XMT
Direct electrical heating on all
flow-lines.
(hydrate mitigation
philosophy).
2 x100% fibre optic cables to
shore

Flow assurance
Wax (WAT 22oC, reservoir temperature 17°C, light ends)
Fluid testing, simulate behavior of fluids.
Hydrate (end of field life, higher pressures)
Direct electrical heating
Water injection specification – 4oC and 5 micron.
Power
Fuel gas deficient late life (gas linked to oil rate)
300km for power from shore
Design criteria for sub structure (weather, ice)
Challenges - Facilities
16 | OMV (Norge) AS, INTSOK - Arctic and Cold Climate Solutions, Ålesund 15 September 2016
► Consolidate knowns (experience transfers, joint industry projects,
available data)
► Aim to establish draft high level design criteria for Wisting floater
► (joint facilities/HSSE work)
► MetOcean working group as
part of BaSEC
Sub-structure study work
