The Bible Speaks
I am the Bible, God’s wonderful library. I
am always—and above all—the truth. To
the weary pilgrim, I am a strong staff. To
the one who sits in darkness, I am
glorious light. To those who stumble
beneath heavy burdens, I am sweet rest.
To him who has lost his way, I am a safe
guide. To those who are sick in sin, I am
healing strength and forgiveness. To
those who are tossed about by the storms
of life, I am steadfast anchor. To those
who search for
salvation, I reveal
the Savior of the
world. I am the
Bible, God’s
wonderful gift to
mankind.

Hey there! My name is Bob Hunter, and I’m the “New Guy.”
As of this writing, I’ve met briefly with many of you, and had the
opportunity to spent time with others. I’m looking forward to
spending time with all of you. If I haven’t gotten to you yet,
and if you want to see me, please call me at 410-926-8075.
People are asking, “What should I call you?” “Bob” is
fine, or “Pastor Bob”, or “PB”. If my office door is open, you’re
welcome to drop in. I will be establishing regular office hours
at a later time, once I’m more familiar with the “rhythm” of our
congregation. I will also pick a high-traffic spot in Thurmont
where I’ll be available one morning each week from 9:00-
11:00. Any suggestions where that should be?
Who am I? God calls me to be a “whooping, shouting,
exhorting, nineteenth century, Second Great Awakening” type
of preacher and teacher. What that means is I get excited! I
believe that John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist
Movement, had it right when it comes to “…going on toward
perfection” (Hebrews 6:1), through what came to be called
“Practical Divinity.” I believe in the Person and power of the
Holy Spirit, demonstrated among those who believe in the
Triune God!
Sermons will ALWAYS be biblical, and directed towards
living a new life. In order for me to get closer to what you feel
you need to hear, I sometimes do Y.A.F.I. (You Asked For It)
sermons. Just write down or email me a topic, problem,
question, or a scripture passage that you’ve been waiting to
hear preached. Chances are, lots of other people need to

hear it too!
I’m excited about being here at TUMC, and I can’t wait to
see how God reveals Himself to us through all we will do together
in His Holy name. Amen? AMEN!

Many of you have been asking what the
Community Clothes Closet accepts other
than clothing including shoes, bed
linens and towels…
Furniture isn’t accepted as storage is an
issue. If you have a piece of furniture
you wish to donate and can keep it for a month, call the
church office. The Community Clothes Closet will see if
there is a need at the Monday and Tuesday openings and
notify you. Arrangements will then be made for the
family to pick the item up at either your home or the
Community Clothes Closet, whichever you prefer.
When a Community Clothes Closet family needs an item,
the church secretary sends an email to the congregation.
If any of you respond, a Community Clothes Closet coor-
dinator will call you to make arrangements for pick up at
the church or your home.
The Community Clothes Closet collects toys, household
items, and Christmas decorations in October, after
Colorfest, through the end of November. These items
are placed in the church under the coat racks and should
be marked CC Christmas Party or put in the outside
collection bin (still mark them CC Christmas Party).
Children’s clothing sizes birth through size 10 are always
needed.
Thank you for your support.

one. Also please give a contact phone number. After
the second service you can take the flowers home.
