E pluribus unum As the United States celebrates flag day, remember that when the Revolutionary War began, no “American” flag existed. Each regiment fought under its own banner. It was another two years before the Second Continental Congress determined that 13 stars and stripes would signify the union of the colonies. An ever-expanding nation required more stars, and then more. It was wisely decided to leave the stripes alone. Holding 50 states together is a challenge in each generation. It takes even more will to hold together a church a billion strong, squatting under banners of preferred views and opinions. “One faith, one Lord, one Baptism” remains our call to unity.

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION SCHEDULE
• Weekdays before the morning Mass
• On Saturday, June 13 & 20, confession will be from 11am—12pm.
Beginning June 27, Saturday confessions will be from 10am to 11am.
There will no longer be confessions scheduled on Saturday afternoons. This is to allow time to prepare the church for the 5pm Mass.
For confession times other than the usual schedule, please contact the parish office for an appointment.
Wearing a face mask at confession is not mandatory but highly recommended.
Until further notice, confessions will be held in the crying room located next to the church foyer. If there is a second priest available, confession will so held in the church library.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We have spots available for volunteers who are able to assist with the ushers and sanitize the church after some of the weekend Masses. If you are able to help, please contact the par-ish office.
OUR LADY OF FATIMA PRESCHOOL UPDATES
Our Lady of Fatima Preschool is once again open from June 1 - 23, 2020.
We have a suitable number of preschool children who have returned to our preschool program and the rest will be re-turning in September 2020 to June 2021.
We are learning in a very safe way during this pandemic and have been approved to be open.
Please consider joining our preschool and we will do a grad-ual transition into our program.
We welcome all new families. It is a great way to prepare your child for kindergarten. Looking forward to meeting you and working with your child.
3-4 yr-old program: Tuesday & Thursday Morning - 9:00 - 11:30 am Afternoon - 12:30 - 3:00 pm

WHY DO GOLF BALLS HAVE DIMPLES?
The simple answer is that dimpled balls fly far-ther. More than a century ago, golfers were well
aware that scuffed, dented, scratched, or pockmarked balls per-formed far better than perfectly smooth balls.
A golf ball is typically whacked off the tee in less than a millisec-ond. After that, a whole lot happens aerodynamically.
The golfer’s swing and point of impact affects the ball’s velocity, launch angle, and rate of spin. The surrounding air immediate-ly gives the ball lift, while gravity pulls the ball toward the ground.
The magic of dimples – or any kind of imperfections, for that matter – is that they help reduce the air’s drag. Dimples have been shown to reduce drag by up to 50%. The lessened re-sistance yields greater distance.
So how many dimples are on the average golf ball?Interestingly, there’s no simple answer to that one. The first patent for dim-pled or “mini-cratered” balls appeared in 1905. Since then, manufacturers and individual golfers have been trying to figure out the most effective ways to reduce drag (while keeping balls flying straight).
The United States Golf Association (USGA) regulates almost everything about golf balls – including their size, weight, and component parts – but not the number or pattern of dimples.
Most balls have somewhere between 250 and 450 dimples, although at least one brand has featured more than 1,000. Experiments continue.
Thus, well into the 21st century, the surface of a golf ball re-mains an interesting balance of art and science. Real life and golf balls have something important in common: imperfec-tions often turn out to be gifts in disguise.
Just as scars take golf balls greater distances, emotional and spiritual scars may take us to places we would never, in our wildest dreams, ever choose to go. But those often turn out to be the very places where we experience the depths of God’s grace.
The apostle Paul talks about receiving “the gift of a handicap to keep me in constant touch with my limitations… At first I didn’t think of it as a gift, and begged God to remove it… Then he told me, ‘My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness.’” (2 Corinthi-ans 12: 7-9, The Message)
Not one of us will make it through life unscarred. But that’s no reason for despair. Even our imperfections are part of God’s plan to take us farther than we ever dreamed.

Pour le moment, seules les dates jusqu'à fin juin sont dispo-nibles pour inscription. Des messes auront également lieu simultanément dans la salle paroissiale pour augmenter la capacité tout en maintenant les distances sociales.
Afin de faciliter la désinfection, on vous demande de ne pas entrer dans l'église jusqu'à 5 minutes avant le début de votre messe.
Il n’est pas nécessaire de vous inscrire aux messes de la se-maine parce que l’assistance est moins de 50 mais vous devez être paroissiens. Cependant, on vous demande de signer à la porte. Les messes de la semaine sont à 9h et l’église restera ouverte pour des prières privées.

WELCOME BACK! PUBLIC MASSES HAVE RESUMED
In order to enable contact tracing and adherence to the 50-person maximum ordered by Provincial Health, registration is required by the Archdiocese to attend public Masses.
WEEKEND MASSES: Parishioners may request to pre-register to attend the week-end Masses via email at:
Dates until the end of June are currently available for pre-registration, as we await for possible changes in regulations for July.
Masses will also be held simultaneously in the parish hall to in-crease capacity while maintaining social distancing.
In order to allow sufficient time to sanitize the church before Mass, parishioners will not be allowed to enter until 5 minutes prior to the Mass start time.
WEEKDAY MASSES including Saturday mornings: Pre-registration is not required, as the number of attendees do not normally reach 50. In lieu of pre-registration, parishioners must sign in at the door.
All the faithful in the Archdiocese of Vancouver remain dispensed from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass during this initial reopening phase.

Nous avons un nombre approprié d'enfants d'âge préscolaire qui sont revenus à notre pré-maternelle et les autres revien-dront en septembre 2020 jusqu’en juin 2021. Nous appre-nons d’une manière conforme aux règlements durant la pan-démie et nous avons été approuvés pour l'ouverture. Veuillez envisager rejoindre notre école maternelle et nous ferons une transition progressive vers notre programme. Nous ac-cueillons toutes les nouvelles familles. C'est un excellent moyen de préparer votre enfant à la maternelle. Au plaisir de vous rencontrer et de travailler avec votre enfant.
