Choosing what you want to study at university, and where, is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make. You need to make sure you get plenty of information to make an informed decision about your future, which is where Open Days come in.

Open Days are your best chance to meet students and lecturers, find out more about your subject choices and get a feel for the university where you may spend the next few years of your life!

Each of our 2013 days will be packed full of activities, designed to make sure you leave with a clear picture of the subject you will be studying and why you should do your degree at Leeds Trinity University!

To help you plan your day, you’ll find details of all of the services available on the Open Day, including our campus tours, Information Fair and a timetable of all our subject talks. Ask lots of questions, chat to our students and staff and, above all, enjoy the day!

The Open Day Team

Information FairTaking place in our Sports Centre, the Information Fair is your starting point for the day. After registering at the reception desk just inside the Sports Centre, make your way into the Sports Hall where you’ll have the opportunity to meet representatives from a range of academic and student support services. All of our academic departments will have stands at the fair, with lecturers and students on-hand to give you advice about our range of undergraduate, postgraduate and foundation courses. If you’re looking to do a joint honours course then make sure you visit the stands for both courses, to make sure you get all of the information that you need. You’ll also get the opportunity to meet representatives from our students support services, which include careers, employability, admissions, accommodation, student health and student finance. This only scratches the surface of what’s available at the Information Fair, so make sure it’s firmly embedded in your plan for the day!

Subject talksThere will be a range of talks taking place that focus on all of the degree courses that we offer at Leeds Trinity. Delivered by the lecturers that would teach you if you decide to make Leeds Trinity your first choice, you’ll get a brilliant insight into exactly what your course would entail. There’s plenty of time for questions during each talk, so make the most of your opportunity to get the answers that are important to you.

Student Finance Q&A If you’re overwhelmed by student finance then don’t worry, you’re not alone! We’ll give you the key facts about funding your university experience, and debunk some common myths you may have heard about tuition fees and student loans.

Student life talksWhen it comes to finding out about what it’s really like to be a student at Leeds Trinity, we’re going to leave you in the safe hands of our students! Don’t miss this chance to hear what they think about everything from our accommodation and learning facilities, to student life in the city of Leeds itself.

Campus toursCampus tours are the best way to get a feel for our fabulous campus, including our on-site accommodation, academic and social facilities. Tours are run by our student ambassadors who know the campus better than anyone, so take advantage to ask them lots of questions! Tours will aim to leave every five minutes, and will last approximately 45 minutes.

Food and DrinkOpen Days can work up quite an appetite, so we’ll be offering special meal deals in our Dining Room during the Open Day. We’ll also keep your thirst quenched with free bottles of water in the Information Fair, and free hot drinks in the Dining Room.

LeedsLeeds Trinity Students’ Union

Hi! We’re Miki and Neil, the President and Vice-President of Leeds Trinity Students’ Union (LTSU). It’s our job to make sure that students have the best time here at Leeds Trinity, with the best social activities, the best societies and the best representation. We’re also here to make sure that your voice is heard, right from the word go. There are four key components that make up what we do in the Union: Events, Clubs and Societies, Student Welfare Service and Representation. LTSU organises some really exciting activities. We organise all the LTSU nights out, as well as alternative events to make sure that there’s always something to do for everyone. We also enter all our sports teams into the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league, so that you get to compete against other universities and other students’ unions. This is a great way to get to know people, both inside Leeds Trinity and out! We also make sure that the student voice is heard! We take your thoughts and ideas right the way to the Board of Governors, and make sure that we are really listened to. When the University plans things, we’re there representing you, making sure that

everything has the students’ best interests at heart. The students really are the centre of our community and we wouldn’t have it any other way! Welfare is something that is so important to all students. We have a specialist Welfare Officer, Adam, who runs drop-in sessions twice a week, where you can pop along and have a chat about anything. It’s completely free and confidential, and we can help you with anything from health, housing, local travel and discounts, to mental health enquiries, crime and safety. The list goes on! At the end of the day, we’re here to support you, to represent you, and to put your needs first. LeedsWelcome to LeedsLeeds is one of the UK’s largest cities and is home to hundreds of thousands of students! It’s renowned for its amazing nightlife, culture and shopping, as well as being an internationally recognised major centre of learning. So what do you need to know about what’s on your doorstep at Leeds Trinity?

Leeds City CentreLess than 15 minutes away from Leeds Trinity by train, Leeds is an amazing student city and whatever your interests, you’ll be spoilt for choice with activities when you arrive here. If you like shopping, you’ve probably already got the city’s latest shopping experience, Trinity Leeds, in your sights. You’ll find all of the biggest names in there like Superdry, H&M and Hollister, as well as student-friendly restaurants Wagamama and Yo Sushi, the first Everyman Cinema outside of London and lots more. If you like your clothes with a bit of history, you’ll find that Leeds has a great vintage shopping scene, with fantastic bargains to be found at shops in and around the Corn Exchange.

Leeds is also a city renowned for its live music, and the city centre is home to lots of great venues, from the o2 Academy to The Cockpit. New for 2013 is the First Direct Arena, a 13,500 capacity venue that will attract international heavyweights to Leeds.

Headingley and Hyde ParkJust a few miles away from Horsforth are the legendary student hubs of Headingley and Hyde Park. Headingley is where the majority of students in Leeds live and congregate, and is filled with a variety of pubs, bars, cafés and restaurants as well as lots of student flats and houses to suit many budgets. No trip to Headingley is complete without a visit to The Original Oak, which has a huge beer garden that’s perfect for those hot days.

Hyde Park is another popular area for students, boasting a more alternative scene with a variety of quirky cafés, restaurants and bars. It’s also home to Brudenell Social Club, an intimate venue renowned for hosting an eclectic range of high quality gigs, as well as Hyde Park Picture House, known as Leeds’ premier art-house cinema.
