WelcomeYou have opened the door to Melbourne.

On behalf of the College Council, Pathology Update 2010 Overseeing Committee and the eleven Scientific Program Committees, it is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the new Melbourne Convention Centre for what promises to be an exciting three days.

The scientific committees have worked hard to develop an interesting, informative and entertaining program, and we hope we have managed to provide something for everyone – including fellows, trainees, scientists, and other healthcare workers.

This year’s meeting includes eight international speakers who are leaders in their fields, as well as over 100 local speakers. In particular we are very pleased to welcome Prof Elizabeth Blackburn, Dr Jean Laurent Casanova, Dr John Chan, Prof Michael Ison, Prof Kenneth Kaushansky, Prof Vinay Kumar, Dr Jesse McKenney and Prof Nicolas von Ahsen.

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all our speakers for agreeing to participate and for their hard work in preparing their presentations – we couldn’t do it without you!

In addition to enjoying the scientific sessions, please make the most of this opportunity to meet with colleagues and share issues of interest at the Welcome Cocktail Party – “Tastes of Melbourne”, and join us for the pathology industry dinner of the year at The Peninsula at the Docklands.

Once again, we would like to sincerely thank all our sponsors and exhibitors. This meeting could not take place without their continued support and we ask you to acknowledge this support by visiting all 27 booths on Level One.

In particular we recognise our Lead Partner – International Speakers - The Department of Health and Ageing, who have shown continued commitment to the profession of pathology through support for this meeting. We also recognise the continued support of our Lead, Major and Supporting Partners.

Finally, we wish to congratulate the Chairs and Members of the eleven Scientific Program Committees. We thank them for their dedication and commitment to Pathology Update and to the College.

Since we have both recently been appointed to our current College positions, we may not have had the opportunity to meet you. If this is the case, please feel free to introduce yourself at the Conference - we very much look forward to seeing you at Pathology Update 2010 in Melbourne.
