Safety

Read this manual carefully before starting or using thedevice. Always store the manual in the immediate vicinityof the device or its site of use!

This appliance can be used by children aged from 8years and above and persons with reduced physical,sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experienceand knowledge if they have been given supervision orinstruction concerning use of the appliance in a safeway and understand the hazards involved.Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning anduser maintenance shall not be made by childrenwithout supervision.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings – Work areasafety

• Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or darkareas invite accidents.

• Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres,such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases ordust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dustor fumes.

• Keep children and bystanders away while operating apower tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings – Electricalsafety

• Power tool or power adapter plugs must match theoutlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not useany adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) powertools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reducerisk of electric shock.

• Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces,such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators.There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body isearthed or grounded.

• Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.Water entering a power tool will increase the risk ofelectric shock.

• Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying,pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord awayfrom heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damagedor entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.

• When operating a power tool outdoors, use anextension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cordsuitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

• If operating a power tool in a damp location isunavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD)protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk ofelectric shock.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings – Personalsafety

• Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use commonsense when operating a power tool. Do not use apower tool while you are tired or under the influence ofdrugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattentionwhile operating power tools may result in serious personalinjury.

Use personal protective equipment. Alwayswear eye protection. Protective equipment suchas protective mask, non-skid safety shoes, hardhat, hearing protection or tight-fitting protectiveclothing used for appropriate conditions willreduce personal injuries.

• Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is inthe off-position before connecting to power sourceand/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch orenergising power tools that have the switch on invitesaccidents.

• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance atall times. This enables better control of the power tool inunexpected situations.

• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing orjewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves awayfrom moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long haircan be caught in moving parts.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings – Power tooluse and care

• Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power toolfor your application. The correct power tool will do thejob better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

• Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn iton and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled withthe switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

• Disconnect the plug from the power source and / orthe battery pack from the power tool before makingany adjustments, changing accessories, or storingpower tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce therisk of starting the power tool accidentally.

• Store idle power tools out of the reach of children anddo not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool orthese instructions to operate the power tool. Powertools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

• Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment orbinding of moving parts, breakage of parts and anyother condition that may affect the power tool’soperation. If damaged, have the power tool repairedbefore use. Many accidents are caused by poorlymaintained power tools.

• Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. inaccordance with these instructions, taking intoaccount the working conditions and the work to beperformed. Use of the power tool for operations differentfrom those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings – Service

• Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repairperson using only identical replacement parts. This willensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

General Battery Pack / Charger Safety Warnings

• Use power tools only with specifically designatedbattery packs. Use of any other battery packs may createa risk of injury and fire.

• When battery pack is not in use, keep it away fromother metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails,screws or other small metal objects, that can make aconnection from one terminal to another. Shorting thebattery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.

• Recharge only with the charger specified by themanufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type ofbattery pack may create a risk of fire when used withanother battery pack.

• Do not charge other battery packs. The charger is onlysuitable for use with the supplied battery pack and withthe voltages specified in the technical data. Otherwise,there is a risk of fire and explosion.

• Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected fromthe battery. Avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs,flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seekmedical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may causeirritation or burns.

• In case of damage and improper use of the battery,vapours may be emitted. Provide for fresh air and seekmedical help in case of complaints. The vapours canirritate the respiratory system.

• Do not open the battery. There is danger of a shortcircuit.

• Do not short-circuit the battery. There is danger ofexplosion.

• Batteries must not be exposed to mechanical impacts.

• Protect electrical parts against moisture. To prevent anelectric shock, never immerse them in water or otherliquids during cleaning or operation. Never hold thecharger under running water. Please observe theinstructions for cleaning and maintenance.

• The charger is only suited for indoor use.

• Keep the charger clean. Contamination entails a risk ofelectric shock.

• Do not operate the charger on highly combustibleground (e.g. paper, textiles etc.) or in an inflammableenvironment. The heat generated by the charger duringcharging entails a risk of fire.

• Only use the charger for charging the battery. Thecharger must not be used as power supply for the powertool.

Device-specific safety warnings for glue guns

• Only place the device on fireproof, non-heat-conducting and solid surfaces. The heat generated bythe device during operation entails a risk of fire.

• Do not use flammable solvents for cleaning the areasto be glued. Fire hazard.

• Do not touch the nozzle or the glue stick. The nozzleand the glue stick can reach temperatures exceeding170 °C.

• Do not allow hot glue to come into contact with peopleor animals. In case of skin contact immediately hold theaffected area under a jet of cold water for several minutes.Do not try to remove the glue from your skin.

• Do not pull the glue stick out of the nozzle. Touchinghot glue can cause severe burns and the power tool can bedamaged.

• Never use the glue gun at ambient temperatures below5 °C or above 50 °C.

• Do not use the glue gun in an environment with direct,cold wind. The device's efficiency decreases and energyis lost.

• In case of continued use, do not apply excessivepressure on the trigger. The glue gun can be damaged.

• Tasks which require the housing to be opened mustonly be carried out by authorised specialistcompanies.

• If the glue escapes towards the rear, stop using thetool immediately! Have it cleaned by a specialistcompany before further use.

Intended useOnly use the device PGGS 10-3,7V for bonding wood,cardboard, packaging material, leather, ceramic, glass, carpet,seals, plastic, fabric, cork and metal using hot-melt glue whilstadhering to the technical data. The workpieces to be bondedmust be clean, dry and free of grease.

We recommend using the power tool with original Trotecaccessories.

Improper useThe device PGGS 10-3,7V is not suitable for bonding heat-sensitive materials such as soft PVC, styrofoam and otherfoams. The device PGGS 10-3,7V is not suitable for large-areagluing.

Personnel qualificationsPeople who use this device must:• have read and understood the operating manual, especially

the Safety chapter.

Device descriptionThe device PGGS 10-3,7V is a cordless glue gun for repairs andtinkering. The device is suitable for bonding wood, plastic,textiles, cardboard, paper, ceramic, leather, cork, glass andmetal.

The battery level indication shows the charging status.

The automatic switch-off after 10 minutes helps you to saveenergy during work breaks.

The device allows for a working time of 30 minutes. During awork break, you can put the cordless glue gun down into thecharger.

The status LED indicates when the operating temperature hasbeen reached by a change of colour. The heating time is60 seconds.

The ergonomically shaped handle and the light weight ensurefatigue-free working.

Transport and storage

NoticeIf you store or transport the device improperly, thedevice may be damaged.Note the information regarding transport and storage ofthe device.

TransportBefore transporting the device, proceed as follows:• Switch off the device.

• Hold onto the mains plug while pulling the power cable ofthe charger out of the mains socket.

• Allow the device to cool down.

The supplied Li-ion batteries are subjects to the requirements ofdangerous goods legislation.

Observe the following when transporting or shipping Li-ionbatteries:• The user may transport the batteries by road without any

additional requirements.

• If transport is carried out by third parties (e.g. air transportor forwarding company), special requirements as topackaging and labelling must be observed. This includesconsulting a dangerous goods specialist when preparingthe package.

– Only ship batteries if their housing is undamaged.– Please also observe any other national regulations.

StorageBefore storing the device, proceed as follows:• Switch off the device.

• Hold onto the mains plug while pulling the power cable ofthe charger out of the mains socket.

• Allow the device to cool down.

• Clean the device as described in the Maintenance chapter.

Charging the battery

CautionWhile the battery is charging, the handle may becomeslightly warm. This is normal.

NoticeThe battery can be damaged in case of impropercharging.Never charge the battery at ambient temperaturesbelow 10 °C or above 40 °C.

The battery is partially charged upon delivery to avoid damageto the battery caused by a deep discharge.

The battery should be charged prior to initial start-up and whenthe battery is low (the battery level indication is illuminated inred).

1. Insert the device into the charger (7).

2. Insert the mains plug of the charger (7) into a properly fusedmains socket.

ð The battery level indication (3) is illuminated in red.

ð The battery is fully charged.4. Pull the mains plug of the charger (7) out of the mains

5. Take the device off the charger.

Checking the battery charging statusThe charging status is displayed by the battery level indicationas follows:

Operation

Tips and notes on handling the glue gunGeneral information:• Degrease metallic surfaces before gluing. Processing

machines often leave oil residues.

• The glue cannot be completely removed from textiles. Dueto its high melting point, even hot washing does notremove the glue.

• Moisture can make the glue joint come undone.

• If required, use special glue sticks for different types ofmaterial.

• If your skin comes into contact with hot glue, immediatelyhold the affected area under a jet of cold water for severalminutes.

• The materials to be bonded and the surface on which youare working must neither be highly flammable norcombustible.

• When working with heat-sensitive materials, use a sampleto test whether the material is suited for hot gluing.

Gluing:• Apply the glue in zigzag lines when working with flexible

materials such as textiles.

• Heat up quickly cooling materials such as steel e.g. using aheat gun to improve the adhesive bonding.

• Briefly press the workpieces together by hand after gluing.A clamping device is not required.

• You can use the device for point gluing or seam gluing.

• Glue joints can be dissolved again by heating.

• Glue residues can easily be removed from the nozzle afterthe tool has cooled down.

• After cooling, remove the glue residues ideally with a sharpknife.

• The glue joints can be painted.

• Roughen smooth surfaces before gluing.

Switching the device on and offWear your personal protective equipment when working withthe device.

1. Press the on/off switch (2) until the status LED (1) lights upred.

ð The glue is being heated.ð Once the device has reached its operating temperature,

the status LED lights up green.ð The device is ready for operation.

Automatic switch-offThe automatic switch-off after 10 minutes helps you to saveenergy during work breaks. Only switch on the device when youactually use it.1. Switch the device back on using the on/off switch (2) and

check the status LED or the battery level indication to seewhether the device needs to be charged or heated up.

Gluing

Warning of hot surfaceThe nozzle might still be hot after use. Glue coming outof the nozzle can be hot. Risk of burns.Do not touch the nozzle bare-handed!Wear protective gloves!

InfoWhen further glue sticks are pushed in, the devicerequires a little more time for heating up than duringinitial use. Hardened glue residues can block the feedchannel.

InfoThe surfaces to be glued must be clean, dry and free ofgrease.

The status LED is illuminated in green.

1. Allow the glue gun to heat up. Push a glue stick suitable forthe material into the feed channel (9) from the rear. Pull thefeed trigger (5) to control the flow of glue for the intendedtask.

2. Apply the glue in dots or lines.

3. Immediately press the two workpieces to be bondedtogether for approx. 30 seconds.

ð After approx. 5 minutes the glue joint will be able towithstand loads.

4. During work breaks, put the device into the charger.

Shutdown

Warning of electrical voltageDo not touch the mains plug with wet or damp hands.

• Switch off the device.

• Hold onto the mains plug while pulling the power cable ofthe charger out of the mains socket.

• If required, allow the device to cool down.

• Clean the device according to the Maintenance chapter.

• Store the device according to the Storage chapter.

Errors and faultsThe device has been checked for proper functioning severaltimes during production. If malfunctions occur nonetheless,check the device according to the following list.

Troubleshooting tasks which require the housing to be openedmust only be carried out by an authorized specialist electricalcompany or by Trotec.

Slight smoke or odour are emitted during first use:• This is not a fault. These phenomena disappear after a

brief runtime.

The device does not start:• The battery power might be too low. Recharge the battery.

• Check the charger and charging socket for dirt. Removeany dirt.

• Check whether the charger is connected. If the charger isconnected, the device will not start.

InfoWait for at least 10 minutes before switching thedevice back on.

The battery does not charge:• Check whether the device is correctly connected to the

charger and whether the charger is correctly connected tothe power supply.

• Check the power connection.

• Check the power cable and mains plug for damages.

• Check the fuse (home).

• Check the charger for damages. Should the charger bedamaged, stop using it. Contact the Trotec customerservice.

• Check the charger connection for dirt. Remove any dirt.

• The battery might be defective. Contact the Troteccustomer service.

The glue stick is not transported:• The glue stick may be used up or too short. Insert a new

glue stick. Only use suitable accessories / glue sticks asspecified in the technical data.

• The glue stick diameter may be too large or too small. Onlyuse suitable accessories / glue sticks as specified in thetechnical data.

The glue stick falls out of the device:• The glue stick diameter is too small. Only use suitable

accessories / glue sticks as specified in the technical data.

Liquid glue comes out of the feed channel:• The glue stick diameter is too small and / or the melting

point of the glue stick is too low. Only use suitableaccessories / glue sticks as specified in the technical data.

The glue does not come out evenly:• The device may not have reached the melting point yet.

Allow the device to heat up completely.

• Pull the feed trigger slowly and evenly.

The glue only bonds on one side:• The glue may have cooled down before you have pressed

the workpieces together. Press the workpieces to bebonded together immediately. Heat up quickly coolingmaterials with a heat gun. Apply the glue in dots ifnecessary.

The glue comes undone after cooling:• The surfaces may be greasy, smooth or dusty. You should

degrease, roughen or clean the surfaces.

• The material may not be suitable for bonding with hot-meltglue. Use special glue sticks.

Glued shoe soles come undone:• Moisture causes the leather to swell. Use special glue

sticks.

Glue residues (strands) form:• The feed trigger is held after gluing is completed. Let go of

the feed trigger in time.

• Wipe off the nozzle when lifting it off the workpiece.

The workpiece melts:• The workpiece consists of heat-sensitive material, e.g.

styrofoam, and is not suitable for bonding with hot-meltglue. Use special glue sticks.

You suffer burns on your fingers during gluing:• The glue may penetrate through paper or textiles. Wear

protective gloves when working with the glue gun. Ifnecessary, use a heat-resistant pad, e.g. made of silicone.

• The workpiece consists of metal and may have heated up.Wear protective gloves when working with the glue gun.

NoticeWait for at least 3 minutes after maintenance andrepair work. Only then switch the device back on.

Your device still does not operate correctly after thesechecks?Please contact the customer service. If necessary, bring thedevice to an authorized specialist electrical company or toTrotec for repair.

Maintenance

Activities required before starting maintenance

Warning of electrical voltageDo not touch the mains plug of the charger with wet ordamp hands.

• Switch the device off.

• Hold onto the mains plug while pulling the power cable ofthe charger out of the mains socket.
