I am extremely delighted and happy to place before you the Operational Plan 2019-2020 which is the year

long activities calendar of the institute. We as a team believe in total satisfaction of our stakeholders and

strive to deliver the same with quality. The operational plan is a vivid kaleidoscope of diverse needs of the

stakeholders addressed by the institute in a meticulous planning. It is a confluence of stakeholders’ needs and

futuristic assessments of technology agreed upon by series of workshops conducted at the institute at

Chandigarh and also at various states of Northern India. The training programmes aim at enhancing core

competency, pedagogy with emphasis on digital pedagogy, knowledge in emerging areas and industrial

skill. Industry 4.0, IOT, AI, Robotic, Block Chain, Smart Infrastructures, Smart Grid, Electric Vehicle,

Digital Pedagogy, Cyber Security, 3D Printing, Gaming, Virtual reality etc. etc. are some of the areas

covered in this Operational Plan. Short-term training programmes on Curriculum Development,

Entrepreneurship, Start-up, Video Lecture development, Rural Development through technology intervention

pave the path for holistic development of faculty members. The Operational Plan opens up ample opportunity

for engineering the career. The faculty members of this institute with their intellect, involvement, interaction

and inherent work culture are the real experts available in the system. Partnership enhances strength,

networking multiplies wealth and empowering leads to progress. These are truly in practice at NITTTR,

Chandigarh. Hence, the activities lead to multiple level of diversified learning by involvement of industries and

network partners who have excellent infrastructures at different locations of the country and are now opened

to our participants.

Integrating social media to teaching-learning and reaching out to our remote participants through Google

hangout in ICT based training is an innovative outcome of this institute that shows the urge for inventing new

teaching-learning methods and tools. The NCTEL YouTube Channel of the institute is a vivid example of the

institute to reach out to its cliental system. The participants will have an enriching experience in our ICT based

programme. Thinking without box is the present approach of the institute to explore experience and exploit the

data base and information to improve the quality of technical education system. As a front runner in adopting

transformation, the institute is an aggressive player in SWAYAM initiatives. Being an NRC to offer course under

SWAYAM, the institute has a strategic approach to be an active contributor to SWAYAM for that matter to all

on-line learning platform.

Shri Abdul Kalamji once said I quote “Education is an endless journey through knowledge and enlightenment”

unquote. Hope this year, Operational Plan: the activities calendar of the institute will meet your expectations

of rich learning and provide you knowledge, skill and enlightenment.

PREFACE

Page 3: Operational Plan Plan 2019-2020 … · Chandigarh and also at various states of Northern India. The training programmes aim at enhancing core competency, pedagogy with emphasis on

One of the major activities of the institute is to assist the technical education system through

Extension Services and Consultancy activities for quality improvement and value addition.

Institute provides extension services in development of new laboratories, improvement of

instructions and development of instructional material to meet the requirements of new/updated

curriculum. The institute undertakes value added activities under consultancy services to assist

the education system particularly technical education system. The focus areas under

consultancy services are research and product development, curriculum development, human

resources services, design & testing services and quality assurance. The institute, in the coming

years, will endeavor to scale up the activities under Extension Services and Consultancy.

Institute plans to involve the technical institutions in providing these services by developing

requisite manpower for undertaking this work at the various institutes. In addition, the institute

will take up joint projects with selected technical institutions to provide opportunities to the

teachers to work on live projects and a chance to generate revenue for the institutions.

The institute recognizes the importance of research and has therefore, rejuvenated R & D

activities in the campus. The Faculty has fostered a strong research culture. Our immediate

goal is to encourage excellence in research through collaborative activities at Department

as well as Institute level. Our mission is to create, disseminate, train and apply engineering

knowledge and skill that will enhance the competitiveness of the technical teachers of the

country. We innovate and excel in teaching and research so as to advance the goals of the

institute and the development of the technical education in particular. We aim to serve our

client even better by offering insightful advice in a more effective and productive manner.

Enabling an ambience for technology development is a priority. NITTTR, Chandigarh

continues to take strategic steps forward, advancing the quality of research, education and

engagement with the world of work.

My vision for the institute is that it should be the best institute in the country in the field of

technical education for teaching, training and research. The institute should offer state-of-

the art and industry driven long term masters and doctoral level programmes and short

term courses in emerging areas of technology and management. Networking with national

and international level organizations needs to be expanded and strengthened. The

institute should be a hub of innovation, incubation and technical entrepreneurship and

must play a lead role in areas of curriculum, educational pedagogy, instructional resources

development and offering extension services to the society.
