    Business Process

Business Processes are designed to add value for the

customer and should not include unnecessary activities. The outcome of a well designed business process is

increased effectiveness (value for the customer) and

increased efficiency (less costs for the company).A set of linked activities that take an input and transform it

to create an output. Ideally, the transformation that occurs

in the process should add value to the input and create an

output that is more useful and effective to the recipient

    either upstream or downstream.

A business process is a series of steps designed to produce a

product or service. Some processes result in a product or

service that is received by an organization's external

customer. We call these Primary Processes. Other processes

produce products that are invisible to the external customerbut essential to the effective management of the business.

    We call these support processes.

    want.

The purvey of OM ranges from strategic to tactical

and operational levels. The sole objective of

Operations Managementis important, exciting, challenging, and

    everywhere you look!

Important, because its concerned with creating all of

the products and services upon which we depend.

Exciting, because its at the centre of so many of the

changes affecting the world of business.

Challenging, because the solutions that we find need

to work globally and responsibly within society and

    the environment.

And everywhere, because every service and product

that you use the food you eat at breakfast, the chair

you sit on, and the radio station you listen to while

you eat is the result of an operation or process.
