Patients with a corneal foreign body may first present to their general practitioner (GP). Safe and efficacious management of these presentations avoids sight-threatening and eye-threatening complications. Knowing the relevant procedural skills and indications for referral is equally important. This session will be highly interactive, with delegates participating in a practical skills session onsite at the Lions Eye Institute in Nedlands. Who should attend? This workshop has been designed for New Fellows with up to five years’ general practice experience with an interest in ophthalmology. Registrars and experienced GP’s wanting to refresh their skills are welcome too. Learning Outcomes: • Perform an accurate visual acuity test • Describe the management of common eye conditions • List processes for safe removal of ocular foreign body • Recognise the important “not to miss” (dangerous) ocular conditions.
