EARTH DAY BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT

March 21, 2016

Hard Light Consulting Group, LLC and ProCon Consulting partnered with the Federal Protective Services and

the St. Elizabeths West Campus project team to participate in an Earth Day beautification project at the

Greenleaf Senior Facility on April 21, 2016.

A special thanks to the Earth Conservation Corps. and the District of Columbia Housing Authority.

FRIENDSHIP PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL

May 24, 2016

In an ongoing effort to strengthen ties with the residents and youth in the Ward 8 community,

Gaftie Marlow, GSA Project Manager, has mentored students at Friendship Public Charter School, located

at 2705 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20032, as a part of the GSAACE

(Architecture, Construction, Engineering) program. The program has been a great way to promote the trades

to the youth.

On May 24th, Sulaiman Harris of AFG Group, Inc. and Mike Wear provided a tour of St. Elizabeths West

Campus for a number of high school students.

GRUNLEY SMALL BUSINESS OPEN HOUSE

July 8, 2016

Grunley Construction Company, Inc. hosted a Small Business Open House for the St. Elizabeths West

Campus Central Utility Plant 2 project which was held at the R.I.S.E. Demonstration Center, located at

2730 Martin Luther King, Jr., Ave., S.E., Washington, D.C. Many small business from across the

Washington Metropolitan Area participated in the event.

Lunch was provided by Carnivore BBQ, small business

owner Steve Adelson.

HCSD Internship Program

Announcing the 2016 HCSD Internship Program

Overview:

HCSD is pleased to announce the kick-off of our 2016 Internship Program. The program provides GDIT and our customers the opportunity to

benefit from a wealth of ideas through talented and enthusiastic young professionals.

The search is on now for top college talent who are seeking summer internship opportunities. Companies are participating in Spring Career

Fairs and meeting candidates who are interested in working with us this summer.

Potential candidates must meet the following requirements:

Program focus in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems, Program

Management, Management (HR, Finance and Accounting, etc.), Applied Mathematics (Statistics, Probability, Analytics) and Health

Policy

GPA 3.0 or greater

Problem-solving and decision-making ability

Leadership skills and an eagerness to learn

Strong verbal and written communication skills

The Process:

Marketing, branding, image events and recruiting will occur at local universities. Key Universities for 2016 are:

George Mason University in Virginia

Howard University in Washington DC

Towson University in Maryland

Iowa State University in Iowa

University of Iowa in Iowa

Students from other universities will absolutely be considered. However on campus activities will be focused on our Key Universities. Interns

will go through much of the same hiring process as regular new hires. All students must present a resume, transcript, complete an employment

application, and pass a background check/drug test.

St. Elizabeths’ Project Promotes

Sustainability in Design

GSA has received several certifications from LEED and the US Green Building Institute. LEED is an

internationally recognized rating system for buildings. GSA has approximately 154 certifications including 49

gold and 10 platinum. The certifications include newly constructed facilities as well as major restorations. The

possible ratings are Platinum, Gold, Silver, Certified depending on the amount of credits the buildings receive

for various sustainable design and construction features.

Highlighted here are four of the St. Elizabeths West Campus projects and their LEED ratings.

Public Law 100-656, the Business Opportunity Development Reform Act of 1988, requires

Federal agencies to compile and make available projections of all acquisitions, including

and is critical to enhance competition. The Office of Small Business Utilization and the Office of

Acquisition Policy issues requests for initial fiscal year Forecast Opportunities as well as updates.
