The Grove @ Progress Point Story

Winter Park was always a center for citrus growers and a favorite central place for them to receive, clean, pack and ship

their precious orange orbs to markets all across America. The groves lined Orange Avenue into Orlando, all the way to Lake Ivanhoe.

This particular spot was shared by an elite group of growers. Each of them had built a packing house bearing their name and

custom identity graphics. Though they looked similar, each had its own identity and character. Now these three houses have been

adapted to new uses and new creative minds that have found their way to Orange Avenue as a special place to live, work,and play in Winter Park.

At The Grove they have found the ideal environment where they may live with a clear view to the open green spacepunctuated by a small active orange grove, work in one of the lofts on Orange Avenue, eat in the main corner restaurant, and

relax by a large pond of cool water, all just steps from one another.

The architecture is not old, but it has an authentic vibe that is immediately captivating. The materials and the way they

are assembled, recall a time past when the open spaces inside allowed for a number of functions. There are designers, doctors,

business entrepreneurs, and other artistically inclined individuals inhabiting this enclave of energetic and creative people.

The live-work lofts that line the perimeter of the parking deck allow the latitude for people to make each space their own.

Being able to have a car just outside your door is a big plus, even though many residents walk or use their bikes and other

alternative modes of transportation. The feature of having a tall studio space at ground level enables them to work and display their

products within a warm and inviting indoor/outdoor environment.

The commercial loft spaces are open to a variety of tenants and also provide a flexible and creative space that may be adapted to the

needs of many types of endeavors. The clean facades work well with the scale of Orange Avenue, stepping down at the corner

and rising appropriately within the site. The open air pavilion at the rail side recalls the loading form that once may have been there.
