“I simply argue that the cross be raised again, at the centre of the marketplace as well as on the steeple of the church. I am recovering the claim that Jesus was not crucified in a cathedral between two candles but on a cross between two thieves; on a town garbage heap; at a crossroad of politics so cosmopolitan that they had to write His title in Hebrew and in Latin and in Greek …and at the kind of place where cynics talk smut, and thieves curse, and soldiers gamble. Because that is where He died, and that is what He died about. And that is where Christ’s own ought to be, and that is what church people ought to be about.” ~George Macleod

N E XT S U N DAYMarch 8, 2020

If Jesus was preaching His sermon on the mount today, someone would send out a tweet, “I’m here at the #sermonon-themount for epic speech @Jesus. Peace out!” A lady in the crowd updates her In-stagram page with photos of her children with the disciples. Someone else thinking of career advancement updates his Linke-din profi le to impress others. Our sermon next Sunday is on Social Media: Curse and/or Blessing?

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” ~Matthew 3:16-17

In our study we have found several Scriptures which reveal His voice but Pastor will show where to fi nd all of them! We will hold this session in the Great Room as we expect there will be too many for our usual spot. All are welcome!

We will begin Andy Stanley’s “Why Easter Matters” DVD study on Tuesday, March 10 at 6:30pm. This is a four ses-sion study but will be slightly interrupted by our Seder Dinner. Sessions are March 10, 17, 31 (2 lessons.) In this study we will take a look at some people whose lives intersected Christ’s in the weeks leading up to the crucifi xion. Each of them had an agenda Sometimes at odds with Christ. As you will see there is a little bit of them in all of us.
