New Considerations for FA Policy
• Financial Aid is an economic development plan
• Equity is vital• Student loan debt is excessive• 40/40/20 is a major goal for Oregon• Solutions are inspiring, exciting and
understandable
New Ideas of Affordability
• Daly Fund of Lake CountyCreates College Going Culture with a 90
year old scholarship.
• Promise Programs – nationwide
• State increase the Oregon Opportunity Grant so that first two years of education are fully funded using the Shared Responsibility Model.
Legislative Activity 2012
• OSAC has increased legislative involvement.
• OSAC is seen as a necessary contributor to 40/40/20.
• OEIB will be reviewing all education commissions/boards to ensure the functions are maintained but the form may change in an effort to reduce boards.
• Minimal OSAC impact (scholarship for STEM, combining degree authorizing entities) for 2012 session.
