Re: Cultural Arts Financial Assistance Grant
Purpose of the Organization: The Mission o f the Community Chorus o f Palm Coast is
to build a tradition o f community pride through choral excellence, by providing performances that enrich, educate, and entertain audiences and singers. The chorus (CCPC)
sings a variety o f musical styles, including Broadway, pop, folk, sacred, gospel and classical music. Founded in 2010, the Chorus currendy has 66 members from Palm Coast and the surrounding area.
Program to be considered for funding—Concert Series: CCPC is beginning its sixth season with the first rehearsal on September 22, 2015. The concert schedule this season includes a Holiday Concert on Friday, December 11 and Sunday, December 13, and a Spring
Concert on Friday, April 29 and Sunday, May 1, 2016. The concerts wiU be held at Trinity
Presbyterian Church, Palm Coast. Approximately 900 people attended the performances last year. The concerts are offered free to the public, and we hope to be able to continue this practice so anyone interested in attending will be able to do so. The audience is given the opportunit}^ to make a donation to support the chorus i f they wish.
CCPC performed by invitation at the following community celebrations during the past year:
Veterans Day Ceremony at Heroes Park in November 2014; New York Transit Retirees celebration of the life o f Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the first Baptist Church in January
2015; and Memorial Day ceremony at Heroes Park in 2015. Members are happy to be part o f these important and meaningful American remembrances.
CCPC is in the preliminary stages o f planning for a small group of its members to perform
in Carnegie Hall in New York Citj over the Memorial Day 2016 weekend. The group will join a chorus o f approximately 300 singers from across the nation for a performance o f
Wequiem, by Gabriel Faufe. They will be thrilled to represent the Community Chorus of Palm Coast in this exciting opportunity.
How the City of Palm Coast's financial assistance will be used: The Cultural Arts
Financial Assistance Grant wiU provide partial support for production expenses including: sheet music, advertising, printing marketing materials and programs, postage for marketing mailings, honoraria for our professional director, accompanists, audio technicians and guest

musicians, and Flagler County Sherriff's office for assistance with traffic control at concerts (please see Budget Worksheet footnotes addendum for fiirther details). The Chorus markets concerts in a variety o f media to reach a wide range o f people. Concerts are promoted dirough local newspaper and neighborhood magazine advertisements, Flagler Auditorium events brochure, press releases, web sites, flyers, emails and direct mail. Public service announcements are made on local radio stations. Marketing staff sends short articles about the concerts and brief Hstings for community events calendars to newspapers, community weeklies, T V stations, and local churches. Concert information also appears in online calendars o f events, such as the ones for the Chamber o f Commerce, the City o f Palm Coast, the county, newspapers and radio stations. The Chorus maintains its own web site, where performances are pubHcized on several different pages. Flyers promoting concerts are posted around die community and mailed to people who attended previous performances.
We hope to continue to receive a grant to help support our activities as we seek to identify and develop new sources o f funding Our fundraising activities wil l continue to center on soliciting donations f rom residents and businesses in Palm Coast and the surrounding area.

The President shall be responsible for overseeing all activities of the chorus and shall preside over all Board Meetings; set the date for all meetings, with the concurrence of the Board; oversee the preparation of the annual budget; preside over the election of members to the Board and appoint chairpersons of standing and ad hoc committees.

The Secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings of the Board and the general membership; ensure that a roster of Chorus members is maintained; notify Chorus members of the Annual Meeting, special meetings, and slates of nominees provided by the nominating committee; prepare and send out all correspondence for the Chorus.

The Treasurer shall be accountable for the administration of all Chorus fonds; maintain fiands in a bank in Florida, maintain financial records of all receipts and expenditures, keep bank statements reconciled, and provide a financial report at Board meetings. Two (2) signatures, from the President, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer or Secretary, are required for all checks or other disbursement of Chorus funds over $500.00, however, the signers may not be two members from the same family. The Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer shall assist the President in preparing the annual budget, including individual concert budgets and provide financial records to an outside CPA for annual review.

Linda Hodges, Choral Director: Linda received a degree in music education at Jacksonville University and has served as a choral director for more than 25 years. She also plays clarinet and teaches voice and piano. Since 2007, Linda has served as Director o f Music at Trinity Presbyterian
Church in Palm Coast.
Linda Oertel, Accompanist: Linda received a degree in church music from Texas Christian
University, Ft. Worth, Texas. After graduation, through a Fulbright Scholarship, she studied pipe
organ in Copenhagen, Denmark. She worked as a pianist and organist for many years in addition to
teaching both instruments.
