Objectives OSH
1. To secure the safety and health of persons at work.
2. To protect persons at a place of work other than employees.
3. To promote an appropriate and suitable environment for persons at work.
4. To enable previous legislation to be replaced by regulations and approved industry codes of practice operating in combination with the OSH Act 1994.
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH(NIOSH)
NIOSH
• Backgroundregistered in June 1992 as a company limited by guarantee under the Malaysian Companies Act 1965.Board of Directors is the administrative body that makes policies and decisions and its members are individuals from government, unions and the industrial sector.established with an endowment fund from the SOCSO and from the Government. This fund was invested to be come part of NIOSH’s source of income.started operations in March 1993.

Human Resource Development
NIOSH aims to develop a workforce that is efficient, trained with integrity and professional through a systematic human resource development management in line with its training and human resource development objective.
“Giving the opportunity to all NIOSH staff to participate in training for personal and organizational development.”
The management will ensure :
1. Knowledge and competence of staff in related and appropriate fields are improved.2. Planning, implementing and monitoring of human resource development activities are carried out
systematically to fulfill staff needs for various forms of training to improve competency.3. Staff is required to attend at least five (5) training days in a year.
The needs and training development of staff will be identified through :
1. Training needs analysis 2. Annual staff evaluation3. Application from staff
