Syngene has adopted a three-pronged strategy to combat COVID-19

• Set up Covid19 testing lab and supply high quality special reagents for Covid19 testing and research

• Support and/or contribute to Covid19 therapeutics and vaccines across value chain (exploratory, development and manufacturing)

• Work with agencies on continuous evaluation of Indian COVID-19 strains for mutations and population genetics studies

Information and awareness to educate and drive change

Protect our employees and

contractors

The Information and awareness track focuses on raising awareness about COVID-19 and being the single and reliable source of information. It is also the channel for promoting learning resources and communication about new behavioural expectations

Continuous information dissemination to drive behavioural change• Dedicated COVID-19 section on intranet: regular updates, informative content and videos, leadership

messages, internal advisories• Online module for mandatory twice daily recording of body temperature by employees• Daily SMS to all staff with company news, reinforcing the importance of hygiene, physical distancing,

measures to avoid virus spread. Weekly newsletter• Management action coordinated via 3x weekly senior leaders videoconferences in place since January 2020

Adapting HR policy to drive right behavior• Employees to self certify and self isolate at home on full pay for 14 days if showing signs and symptoms of

COVID-19 – incentivize the right behavior. 28 days sick leave if confirmed positive.

Virtual townhalls to ensure information dissemination and behavioral compliance• Business units use MS Teams to conduct virtual townhalls to effectively communicate with up to 1200

employees.• The virtual townhalls also serve as means to answer questions and take feedback. Use chat windows ensure

that feedback is captured.

employees wherever possible, thereby

substantially reducing the staff present at the

campus at any given time

Shift system implementedfor onsite staff to further

Employee and contractor protection: masks and temperature monitoring

Employee and contractor protection measures• Physical distancing implemented through out the campus• All onsite employees provided adequate masks. Detailed guidelines on use and

disposal of masks shared with employees• Hand sanitizers made available at every entry and exit point• Handshakes strictly prohibited • Thermometers distributed to employees across Biocon Group. Employees

instructed to self monitor body temperature and record online in COVID-19 microsite to enable monitoring and early detection. Team leads monitor these data logs to ensure compliance

• Security guards perform temperature checks at main gateEmergency service• Onsite Health & Safety team primed to meet any emergency. Occupational

Healthcare facility staff trained to follow clear COVID-19 instructions and protocols

• Zoning introduced across the campus to restrict employee movement to reduce no. of contacts and facilitate contact-tracing if a positive case is detected

• Campus divided into 12 zones each including designated walkway to main gate. Employee pickup/drop within respective zones by company transport

• Colour-coding of zones for easy identification: colour-coded lanyard, badges and wrist bands mandatory for all employees

• Additional security guards deployed for monitoring and preventing cross-zone movement

• Disciplinary measures for non-compliant behavior
