INFANT BAPTISMS For children under 7 years of age, the sacrament
is celebrated the FIRST Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm. The parents
must register in the parish office at least 4 weeks prior to the
baptism. Both parents and godparents are expected to attend one
catechetical session in advance, on the Wednesday before the
baptism, at 7:00 pm.
SACRAMENTS OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION Before being fully initiated
into the sacramental life of the Church, children over the age of 7
will need catechetical prepa-ration through the RCIC process.
Teenagers and adults will par-ticipate in separate RCIA processes.
CONFIRMATION and COMMUNION For those already baptized, preparation
for these Sacraments will take place according to the person’s age
and knowledge of the Catholic Faith. For further information
contact the Office of Faith Formation Program.
MARRIAGES Couples should contact the parish office at least six
months in advance to make the proper ar rangements for the
Sacrament of Matrimony. ANOINTING OF THE SICK Please contact the
parish office. RECONCILIATION A priest is available for Confessions
on Saturday afternoon from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. You can also make an

Our annual International Food Festival and Raffle is next
Sunday, Nov. 10th from 1-3 PM. All are invited to come and sample
delicious dishes of different countries. Nuestro Festival
Internacional de Comida Tipica y Rifa es el proximo domingo, 10 de
noviembre de 1-3 PM. Todos estan invitados y vengan a probar platos
deliciosos de diferentes países.
PRO-LIFE CORNER - I'm pro-life. I'll do all I can to see every
baby is created with a future and potential. The legislature shoul
d do all it can to protect human life. As you know, it's so
important that we always embrace the sanctity of life. One way to
do that is to vote pro-life in every election.
National Vocation Awareness Week, November 3-9, 2019
As Catholics, we firmly believe that God has a plan for our
lives! He calls some to marriage, some to the priesthood, and
others to religious life. Some remains as generous single people.
Fully living our own vocations—and teaching young people how to
discern God’s call—is a serious duty, but also a joyful one.
Today begins National Vocation Awareness Week. During this week,
please pray about how God is calling you to live your vocation more
deeply. Encourage the young people in your life—children,
grandchildren,
students, and friends—to be open if God calls them to priesthood
or consecrated life.
At Our Lady of Fatima church we will pray the rosary each day
this week for vocations.
Bilingual Vocation Mass - this Friday, Nov. 8th at 7:30 PM for
Vocations.
Semana Nacional de Concientización Vocacional, Noviembre 3-9,
2019
Como católicos, creemos firmemente que Dios tiene un plan para
nuestras vidas. Llama a algunos al matrimonio, otros al sacerdocio
y otros a la vida religiosa.
Algunos quedan como solteros generosos. Vivir plenamente
nuestras propias vocaciones, y enseñar a los jóvenes a discernir el
llamado de Dios, es un deber serio, pero también alegre.
Hoy comienza la Semana Nacional de Concientización Vocacional.
Durante esta semana, ora acerca de cómo Dios te está llamando a
vivir más profundamente tu vocación. Anime a los jóvenes en su vida
(hijos, nietos, estudiantes y amigos) a
que estén abiertos si Dios los llama al sacerdocio o a la vida
consagrada.
En Nuestra Señora de Fatima estaremos rezando el Rosario esta
semana por las vocaciones.
Este Viernes 8 de Noviembre Misa Bilingüe por las vocaciones a
las 7:30 PM.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Dear Parishioners, It is November 2019. It is the second to last
month of the year. It is a time that we com-memorate and look
forward to the celebrations of things to come. This past Friday,
Novem-ber 1st, we celebrated All Saints. Saturday, November 2nd, we
commemorated All Souls. We look forward to celebrate Thanksgiving
in our country at the end of this month and then Advent and
Christmas in December. Last weekend we had our Ministry Fair. It
was wonderful for me to see members of our parish making an effort
to present and explain the services that they are involved with.
They were sharing ways that they try to exercise and live the
faith. This was a way to invite others to think of ways they can be
more active in their faith life as well. One of the important parts
of being part of the church is that we help each other to grow
stronger in our love for God and one another. This strengthens the
parish when people share their time and talents to make the Body of
Christ more vibrant where we worship and practice our faith. Next
Sunday, No-vember 10th, we will have an opportunity to appreciate
one another’s culture and traditions when we come for the
International Food Festival while also supporting our church
financially in the Grand Raffle that day as well. We are the
Communion of Saints. We are called to live in communion with God
and with one another in His love. That is the goal. Some have
reached that goal in heaven and the rest of us continue to run
toward this perfect communion. I think of the NYC Marathon this
Sunday. Our life is like a race for the goal. We can help each
other or hold one another back. We do not want to be like the
people in today’s gospel who grumbled because Jesus was go-ing to
visit Zacchaeus, the tax collector. We need to pray for each other.
This month we par-ticularly we remember the faithful departed. We
read in 2 Maccabees 12:42, 46: “Turning to supplication, they
prayed that the sinful deed might be fully blotted out… Thus he
made atonement for the dead that they might be freed from this
sin.” During the month of Novem-ber you may want to use the
following prayer for the faithful departed from St. Gertrude as a
way to help those in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer Thee the
Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the
masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in
purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal
church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
Let us then continue to ask Our Lady of Fatima and all the
saints to pray for us.

DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PÁRROCO
Queridos feligreses, Es noviembre de 2019. Es el penúltimo mes
del año. Es el momento en que conmemoramos y esperamos con ansias
las celebraciones de lo que vendrá. El viernes pasado, 1 de
noviembre, cele-bramos Todos los Santos. El sábado 2 de noviembre,
conmemoramos Día de los Difuntos. Espera-mos celebrar el Día de
Acción de Gracias en nuestro país a fines de este mes y luego
Adviento y Navidad en diciembre. El fin de semana pasado tuvimos
nuestra Feria del Ministerio. Para mi fue maravilloso ver a
miembros de nuestra parroquia haciendo un esfuerzo para presentar y
explicar los servicios en los que están involucrados. Estaban
compartiendo formas en que intentan ejercer y vivir la fe. Esta fue
una manera de invitar a otros a pensar en formas en que también
pueden ser más activos en su vida de fe. Una de las partes
importantes de ser parte de la iglesia es que nos ayudamos
mutuamente a fortalecernos en nuestro amor a Dios y a los demás.
Esto fortalece la parroquia cuando las personas comparten su tiempo
y talento para hacer que el Cuerpo de Cristo sea más vibrante donde
adora-mos y practicamos nuestra fe. El próximo domingo, 10 de
noviembre, tendremos la oportunidad de apreciar la cultura y las
tradiciones de los demás cuando vengamos al Festival Internacional
de Comida Tipicas, al mismo tiempo que apoyaremos financieramente a
nuestra iglesia en el Gran Sorteo ese día. Somos la comunión de los
santos. Estamos llamados a vivir en comunión con Dios y entre
no-sotros en su amor. Ese es el objetivo. Algunos han alcanzado esa
meta en el cielo y el resto de no-sotros continuamos corriendo
hacia esta comunión perfecta. Pienso en el maratón de Nueva York
este domingo. Nuestra vida es como una carrera por la meta. Podemos
ayudarnos unos a otros o retenernos. No queremos ser como las
personas en el evangelio de hoy que murmuraban porque Jesús iba a
visitar a Zaqueo, el recaudador de impuestos. Necesitamos orar el
uno por el otro. Este mes, en particular, recordamos a los fieles
difuntos. Leemos en 2 Macabeos 12:46: “ En efecto, orar por los
difuntos para que se vean libres de sus pecados es una acción santa
y conveniente”. Duran-te el mes de noviembre, es posible que desee
utilizar la siguiente oración por los fieles que partieron de St.
Gertrude como una forma de ayudar a los del purgatorio: Padre
Eterno, te ofrezco la Sangre Más Preciosa de Tu Divino Hijo, Jesús,
en unión con las misas que hoy se dicen en todo el mundo, por todas
las santas almas en el purgatorio, por los pecadores en todas
partes, por los pecadores en la iglesia universal, aquellos en mi
propia casa y dentro de mi familia. Amén.
Sigamos pidiendo a la Virgen de Fátima y a todos los santos que
oren por nosotros.
