A Note From The Pastor… As I write these words, our Parish Mission on Sunday ended a few

hours ago. We had a great turnout. Special thanks to Fr. McIlhone

for giving the Mission, even though he was s"ll recovering from his

trip to the Holy Land, along with a lingering cough and conges"on.

In this week’s bulle"n, you will find enclosed a bulle"n insert by

the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops "tled, “Forming

Consciences for Faithful Ci!zenship”. Please note that the Catholic

Church endorses neither poli"cal par"es, nor specific candidates.

The enclosed insert adheres to this policy.

Catholics have an obliga"on to par"cipate in public life as faithful

ci"zens. Please be sure to vote in the upcoming elec"on. The

United States Catholic Bishops have created a longer document,

also "tled, “Forming Consciences for Faithful Ci!zenship”, which

gives greater in-depth guidance regarding vo"ng as good Catholics,

again, without endorsing a poli"cal party or candidate. The

document may be found with the following link:

h#p://usccb.org/issues-and-ac"on/faithful-ci"zenship/upload/forming-consciences-for-faithful-ci"zenship.pdf

Let us pray that God will bring forth leaders who will protect the dignity of all human life and religious

freedom.

Blessings,

Fr. Paul

Mark Your Calendars For The Feast Of The Divine Mercy On the first Sunday of Lent, February 22, 1931, our Lord Jesus

Christ granted a vision of Himself to Saint Faus"na Kowalski of the

Congrega"on of Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in the City of Plock,

Poland. A*er Saint Faus"na had gazed intently at the vision, Jesus

gave her instruc"ons to “Paint an image according to the pa"erns you

see, with the signature: JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU.” Jesus desired that

this image be venerated, first in the Sisters’ Chapel, and then

throughout the world (Diary, 47). Jesus also told her that He desired

that the image be displayed on the first Sunday a*er Easter, the Feast of the Divine Mercy.

Some of the promises Jesus made regarding the venera"on of this image were: “I PROMISE THAT THE SOUL

THAT WILL VENERATE (HONOR) THIS IMAGE WILL NOT PERISH. I ALSO PROMISE VICTORY OVER (ITS’) ENEMIES

ALREADY HERE ON EARTH, ESPECIALLY AT THE HOUR OF DEATH. I MYSELF WILL DEFEND IT AS MY OWN

GLORY.” (Diary, 48).

Please mark your calendars and plan on joining us on Sunday, April 3rd, (the first Sunday a*er Easter), on the

Feast of the Divine Mercy, at 3PM. We will celebrate God’s love with a 3PM Holy Hour followed by Benedic"on

in the Church on that Sunday.

Many parishioners like to make a Novena to the Divine Mercy which starts on Good Friday, March 25th.

Pamphlets will be available on the tables near the entrance doors to the Church star"ng on Palm Sunday,

March 20th, and during Holy Week. All are welcome, and we hope to see you there!

Sta"ons Of The Cross Join us as we symbolically walk with the Lord on His Journey

to Calvary. Sta"ons of the Cross will be held each Friday of

Lent at 12 Noon and 7PM in the Church.

Restore The Church –

Build The Future For many in the

Church in Central and

Eastern Europe, as well

as parts of Asia, the a*ermath of 70

years of Soviet rule is s"ll felt in the

form of poverty, infrequent pastoral

care, and lack of buildings where

the faithful can worship and

cul"vate their faith. Your support is

needed to strengthen the Church in

this region through grants that fund

projects that promote ministries for

children and families, create

affordable housing, and provide a

cultural and spiritual educa"on.

Please be generous in the Second

Collec"on this weekend. Your gi*

will con"nue to restore the Church,

and build the future in Central and

Eastern Europe.

Co-Ed Senior Luncheon The next Co-Ed Senior Luncheon will be this

Tuesday, March 8th, at 12 Noon in the Parish

Center. We will have Corn Beef and Cabbage, that

will include carrots and potatoes. Because it will

be catered, it is very important that you sign-up

for this luncheon. We will be asked to donate $6 minimum to cover the

cost of the meal. We will s"ll need desserts to be donated. Please

sign-up no later than a*er the 11AM Mass this Sunday, March 6th. Also,

sign-up to bring a dessert. All seniors are welcome. We hope to see you

there!

Easter Flowers Flowers are an important feature of the environment

for the Easter season in Church, because they help to

establish an atmosphere of the celebra"on of new life in

the Risen Lord. You can offer your help to provide for

these flowers in the form of a remembrance for family

and friends.

The flower envelopes are available at the doors of the

Church. The envelope may be deposited in the

collec"on, or it can be dropped off at the Rectory

any"me during office hours from 9AM un"l 3:30PM by Tuesday,

March 15th. Please make your checks payable to “Our Lady of Humility”.

the Campers, please write your check in any amount to:

8 Welcome to Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church

Eucharis"c Adora"on “The Lord, your God,

shall you worship, and

Him alone shall you

serve.” (–Ma"hew 4:10)

Lent can be a "me of

giving and giving up. The Lord our

God’s Real Presence is with us, and

His command is very clear. Give some

"me and worship Him. He gives us

every second of our life.

Eucharis"c Adora"on is a "me to

dedicate yourself to personal prayer

and reflec"on in the Presence of Jesus

Christ silently, in prayer, or through

song. During Adora"on, Jesus calls us

to listen, this Lent He is invi"ng us to

pray, and to listen. “Praying is

Listening” (–Mark 4:1-20). In order to

be aware of what the Lord is trying to

convey to us, we must maintain an

a@tude of a#en"ve recep"vity.

Listening does not merely mean using

our sense of hearing; it involves being

wholly a#uned to the Lord. It means

being available to God. During

Adora"on, Jesus is invi"ng us to

listen carefully to what He is

communica"ng. He wants us to listen

not only with our ears, but to listen

with our hearts. As we listen to what

Jesus is saying to us, we begin to

experience a transforma"on taking

place within us. Prayer is our

rela"onship to our loving Father.

During Eucharis!c Adora!on, we

reflect on God’s crea!ve, caring,

forgiving, healing, and enduring love.

As Jesus says, “when you look for Me,

you will find Me.”

Do something meaningful during

this Lent, please consider coming to

Eucharis"c Adora"on on Thursdays at

2PM. Come, bring your whole family,

spend some "me with the Lord, and

receive His blessings! He is wai"ng

for you!

Ordina"on Bann Joseph Gregory Krame, a parishioner of Our Lady Of

Humility Parish, is scheduled to be ordained to the Order

of Deacon on June 4, 2016, at Holy Name Cathedral by

Archbishop Blasé J. Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago. This is

a public announcement of the upcoming ordina"on, and

fulfills the canonical requirement. Catholics are obliged to reveal any

impediments or circumstances that would prevent Joseph Gregory Krame

from receiving Sacred Orders, and should contact the Pastor or the

Archbishop with such informa"on as soon as possible if there is a serious

ques"on about the candidate’s suitability for ordained ministry.

Help The Vulnerable: Urge Elected Leaders To Pass

A State Budget Every 30 seconds, someone counts on Catholic Chari"es for help. We are

now asking for your help. Please lend your voice to advocate for the State of

Illinois to end its’ budget stalemate, and pass a budget that cares for the

poor, and most vulnerable in our communi"es. Catholic Chari"es is currently

owed more than $25 million by the State of Illinois – a number that grows by

at least $2 million per month. Please take "me today to call your state

elected officials with this simple message, “I am a voter in your district. I am

contac!ng you on behalf of the poor and vulnerable people who depend on

our state’s safety net of human services, especially the more than 1 million

people served by Catholic Chari!es of the Archdiocese of Chicago.” If you do

not know who your State Representa"ve and Senator are, please call the

State Board of Elec"ons at (217) 782-4141, or visit: “www.elec!ons.il.gov”,
