Dear Friends, Two farewells I would like to mention: Marty Troy died last Saturday. His funeral was Friday. Marty was a long-time parishioner here at OLL. Together, both Marty and Claire raised four beautiful children. In fact, you might know one of those children, Erin, the secretary at OLL for the past 17 years. Marty was very involved here: he was a Knight of Columbus, he was on the Parish Council and did whatever needed to be done

around here. Marty, you will be missed! Claire and the rest of your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. The Dy family moved to San Diego last week because of work. Both Ricky and Emmy Lou were outstanding parishioners. They have three boys and the oldest, John, graduated from our school in June John was also a faithful Altar Server and Lector. I wish we had more families like the Dy family. I will miss you guys! Last month Bob and Mary Jo Cretti, another long time parishioners, moved to Fairfield. The thinking went if parishioners died or moved a new group of people would take their place. That is not happening today! Our Church is getting older and grayer and it is up to all of us to evangelize our neighbors and friends and invite them to Church. Let’s face it: Novato is mis-sionary territory. Father Tom is speaking at all the English Masses this weekend. He would speak at the 12 Noon Spanish Mass, but he does not speak Spanish. Father Tom was in Zambia for 24 years as a Missionary of Africa, formerly known as the White Fathers. I have asked him to speak about his experiences of bringing the Gospel to a non-Christian country. Thank you, Father Tom! That’s about it. I cannot believe that this is the first Sunday in August. Where has the summer gone?

Have a Great Week!

Father Brian

Prayer for Our Parish Heavenly Father, You have chosen the parish as the place by which You encounter us in our daily lives. Here Your Word is proclaimed, the Eucharist is celebrated and Your people are united in a family of believers. We thank You for the abundant blessings You have given to our parish, and pray that we may continue to serve You in faithfulness and love. Keep us open to our need of Your love and fellowship. Help us to work together to serve You and each other for the good of the Church, for the people of our Parish and for Your greater glory. Amen

FROM OLL YOUTH MINISTRY Our teens who traveled to Steubenville San Die-go had a wonderful weekend! This year our chaperones were asked to serve the kids in a special way when I needed to come home early to be with my family. Bill Tyler, Shannon & Robin Cantarutti, and Jennifer Troia very self-lessly jumped into their new role as group lead-ers and youth ministers without hesitation and with great love. It is impossible to express my gratitude to each of them for so willingly and lovingly taking over in my absence. THANK YOU, CHAPERONES. YOU ARE THE VERY BEST.

It's time to register your 7th/8th graders and high school students for the 2019/2020 Confirmation program! Registration forms are available on the parish website, in the church entrances and also at the front door of the convent. Please complete your registration as soon as possible so that we can adequately prepare for this year's program. Any questions can be directed to Annie Troy ([email protected]).

Page 7: OUR LADY OF LORETTO CHURCH AND SCHOOL 1806 Novato … · 8/4/2019  · Marty Troy died last Saturday. His funeral was Friday. Marty was a long-time parishioner here at OLL. Together,
