.LITURGY CORNERChrist is Risen! Alleluia! Overthese past weeks of Lent, we havetried to walk in simplicity and insacrifice with great anticipation of this

most beautiful season of our Church year. Easter timebrings us face to face with new life all around us. Wecelebrate with nature’s symbols; new born chicks, bunnies, eggs which we color, butterflies and thebeautiful unfolding of spring flowers and the greening ofthe earth. These things bring us to the clear realizationof God’s ever present goodness to us. All of us areabundantly nourished in God’s love when we approachthe Sacrament of the Eucharist during the EasterSeason, and indeed, week after week during the year! Easter is so special that the Church celebrates it, not justfor a day...but for 50 days, the longest of any of theseasons of the Church year! It is during these preciousweeks when the young children of our parish family, who are preparing for First Eucharist, will receive Jesusfor the first time. What a beautiful experience, not onlyfor those families, but for our entire parish family aswell! For each of us, Easter time calls us to renewal ofspirit so that we may more clearly hear the GOOD NEWSthat, in Christ, life has overcome death, light hastriumphed over darkness. CHRIST IS RISEN! ALLELUIA!

FAITH AT HOMEAfter the fasting of Lent, and the EasterFast from Thursday night until the Vigil, theEaster foods have a special place. Thefollowing blessing prayer may be used as

grace for your Easter dinner: “Let us pray. God ofglory, the eyes of all turn to you, as we celebrateChrist’s victory over sin and death. Bless us and thisfood of our first Easter meal. May we who gather atthis table, continue to celebrate the joy of Christ’sresurrection and be admitted finally to his heavenlybanquet. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. May you and your family have a most blessed andholy Easter season!

EAGLE SCOUT PROJECTMy name is Andrew Gigantino and I am currently aLife Scout working towards the rank of Eagle. Istarted as a cub scout and it was something I reallyenjoyed. Five years later I had achieved my Arrow ofLight, the highest award in cub scouting and crossedover to the Boy Scouts. I have been a life long

parishioner of OLM Church. I am a Minister of the Word at the5:30PM & 11AM Masses. I also help out with the Knights ofColumbus activities. One of the requirements for an Eagle Scout isto demonstrate leadership through a service project which benefitsthe community. For my service project, I will be beautifying thegroungs in front of the American Legion Post #155 in Whippany,NJ. They have a grass strip along the front of its property. Thereare old, decaying telephone poles alongside the grass which serveas car parking stops and mark the property line. I plan to removethe poles and instal a vinyl split rail fence in its place across thefront of the property. Mulch will be placed under the fence to helpwith grass cutting. The Legion would also like fifteen new carstops installed in front of the property where veterans meet andpublic events are held. I am asking for a tax-deductible donationso that I can purchase the vinyl split level fence, cement, mulch, car stops and miscellaneous supplies. With your support, bothyou and our troop can beautify the American Legion Post #155.Donations of any amount will be greatly appreciated. All tax-deductible donations should be made out in the form of checks to“BSA Troop 155". Please send your donations to: AndrewGigantino, 5 Knollwood Rd, Whippany, NJ 07981. Page 5: OUR LADY OF MERCY The Roman Catholic Church of · Club, Lafayette $100pp COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS 4/11 “A Taste of Spring” Birchwood Manor, 4/18-20th “Spring Clothing Drive”,

My dear Friends,

Christ is risen from the dead! We are called to share this wonderful news about our risen Lord withthe whole human family and especially with those who are living homeless, under oppression, violence, injustice, illness, depression or other kinds of human suffering. We pray that the power ofthe Resurrection may prevail in the midst of all human agonies and that the light which shines fromthe Empty Tomb may inspire endurance, perseverance and hope. We pray that victory will come toall of us who believe in Him. We need the fullness of life which comes from the Mystery of theResurrection to take over our hearts and our entire lives. When our Savior died on Good Friday itseemed to his disciples as if their world had come to an end. However, the raising of Jesus from thedead by the power of God the Father on Easter morning was the fulfilment of God’s promise and theassurance that transformation by the grace of God is always possible. The Resurrection talks aboutlife, about joy, about endless hope, about victory and above all about love. Our Good Lord the Fatherof Mercies will never leave us alone in the darkness of death without saving us by the light of HisEverlasting Life. The Easter Season reminds us that life is a gift from our loving God. It is a gift thatnever ends, a powerful gift that not even death can destroy.

It is a great joy to be able to share as a Parish Family this mystery of faith and love. By HisResurrection, the Lord tells us that everything we do as a Church makes sense. We meet everySunday for Mass and some of our people daily because we believe in the power of the Resurrection. We serve our community in many different ministries, we support our Parish and each other becausewe have faith in Him and have heard His voice calling us to the special mission of proclaiming theGospel which shouts loudly to the whole creation that Christ has risen from the dead and invites us to live with Him forever. We pray with faith and devotion because we want to be united with Him inthe fullness of His life. Yes, it makes sense to believe and to love the Risen Lord.

In the spirit of Easter I would like to thank every one of you for being part of OLM. Thank you for yoursupport every week. Thank you for your time and treasure whenever you volunteer to help here inour parish in so many ministries, from cleaning the Church to singing in the Choir or being aCatechist or an Eucharistic Minister or a Lector or washing the linens or being an Altar Server or anUsher. The list goes on and on…Thank you especially to our children from our ReligiousFormation Program and our teenagers from our Confirmation Program. You give life to ourcommunity and having you here is a foretaste of the Resurrection of the Lord. The happiness thatyou bring to all of us is a true song of everlasting life. Thank you all for believing that we togethercan accomplish the mission entrusted to all of us by the Lord.

To those who are homebound or ill at home or in a Health Care Facility we all wish that the power ofthe Resurrection of the Lord reaches your hearts also and fills your lives with the hope and joy thatonly the Lord can give. May the bright light of Easter illuminate each one of our hearts and lives. May the beauty and the splendor of His glory conquer sin, sadness, resentment and disappointmentwithin us. On behalf of Fr. Milton, Deacon Kamil, our Parish Staff and myself I wish you a wonderfuland Happy Easter.

Love and blessings,

Fr. Roberto
