A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE" by Bud Ozar If we want to be happy at home we must commit (“lose our-selves”) to our family. If we try to be independent from others (“save ourselves”) we end up lonely and alone. Hap-piness is found in commitments. The Gospel is true: We save our life by losing it.

CONFIRMATION RETREAT The Confirmation Retreat for students to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in November will take place THIS Wednesday, September 19th from 10 AM until 2 PM in the Church Hall. Please bring a bag lunch. If you have any question please call Betsy.
The Parish Choir will resume rehearsals THIS Wednesday, September 19th from 7:30 to 9 PM.
The rehearsals take place in the choir loft in the back of the Church. New members are always welcome and much needed. All it takes is a love for singing and the Liturgy, and to engage with a group of fun, dedicated parishioners who make up the choir. There are no auditions, nor does a person need the ability to read music. The Parish Choir sings at the 10 o’clock Mass on Sunday mornings preceded by a brief warm-up at 9:30 AM. Please prayerfully consider joining this rewarding ministry.
II Rebecca Lofquist & Anthony Fasulo
III Caitlan Callahan & John Lecardo
Each Sunday, during the 10:00 AM Liturgy, children are invited to come downstairs for the Liturgy of The Word on their level. They return back upstairs at the time of the offer-tory.
Catechetical Sunday The Church is celebrating Catechetical Sunday on September 16, 2018. The 2018 theme is Enlist-ing Witnesses for Jesus Christ." Those who the Community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful op-portunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.

Parish Nurse Program In April and May of 2018, the parish nurse group performed a parish “Community Needs Assessment” survey. 258 parishioners re-sponded and identified High Blood Pressure
as the number one health concern and High Cholesterol as the num-ber 2 concern. The top three topics of interest include Exercise Diet/Improving Nutrition, Healthy Aging, and Stress Relief. Weekday evenings were recognized as the most convenient time for our pa-rishioners to attend educational programs. OLMC Parish Nurses would like to thank the parishioners that participated in the Blood Pressure Blitz. We sincerely enjoyed meeting and getting to know you. 75 parishioners participated! Watch the bulletin for future Blood Pressure screenings. We encour-age everyone to participate, meet your nurses, have your blood pres-sure checked, and collect some healthy living tips.
