AN EASTER PRAYER

My Risen Lord today we sing you glory. Today we feel the powerful embrace of your Divine Love, the Love that lead you to die a cruel and most painful death, to pay a debt you did not owe, for us who owed, a debt we could not pay. Today we celebrate the victory of that Love over sin and death and, in Your Resurrection, we feel invited to share that victory with you, by rising with you to a new life. Where, with your help, we can be the children of the Resurrection, the children of the Light, the bearers of Your Life, the sharers of Your Love. Today You tell us that if we are willing to die with you to the ugliness of sin, You can help rise with You to a life which is from God. A Life graced with the beauty of all that You said of all that You are as, with You, we can become priests, prophets, and kings, temples of the spirit and the living image of the Triune God. Lord, make us always aware that we are to be the living proof of Your Resurrection by making You present in our communities by living as You taught us and by loving as you Loved us. Amen. Fr. Lou

Human life is a relationship. It is only in a relationship, and not closed in on ourselves, that we can have life. And the fundamental relationship is the relationship with the Creator, or else other relations are fragile. Hence, it is essential to choose God. A world empty of God, a world that has forgotten God,

A MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR

THE LORD IS RISEN: ALLELUIA

The heavenly powers rejoice

because Christ is risen. All

creation exults because death is

conquered and darkness has

vanished forever. Holy Mother

Church joyously proclaims that

the Lord has ransomed us with His

blood and now lives in glory

forever.

It is EASTER, the solemnity of

the RESURRECTION OF JESUS.

And as the risen Lord shines upon

us, we sing His praises, we delight

in His victory, we see “THE

NIGHT AS CLEAR AS DAY”, we

bless the power of this beautiful

event, which weds heaven to earth,

reconciles men to God, “dispels all

evil, washes guilt away, restores

lost innocence, brings mourners to

joy; casts out hatred, brings us

peace and humbles earthly pride”

But Easter is not just a

celebration of beauty and glory. St

Paul sees in it necessary and

effective practical applications to

our lives as children of the

Resurrection . “HIS DEATH” he

says “WAS DEATH TO SIN,

ONCE FOR ALL; HIS LIFE IS

LIFE FOR GOD, IN THE SAME

WAY, YOU MUST CONSIDER

YOURSELVS DEAD TO SIN

BUT ALIVE FOR GOD IN

CHRIST JESUS.” For a true

Christian, the Easter experience

can only follow death to sin. St

Paul sees: “OUR OLD SELF

CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST SO

THAT THE SINFUL BODY

MIGHT BE DESTROYED AND

WE MIGHT BE SLAVES TO SIN

NO LONGER.” During the

Lenten preparation to the Feast of

the Resurrection, we have signified

our acceptance of the personal

crucifixion, by practicing some

forms of self-denial and of physical

penance. Such practice should

continue until we reach perfection,

and that is a task which lasts all

the days of our life.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR

Continued

We have to crucify our pride,

destroy our lust, overcome our

hatred, conquer our anger, eliminate

our envy, shake away our sloth,

moderate our desire for earthly

goods and kill our gluttony before it

kills us. We have to rid ourselves of

sin, avoid occasions of sin, grow

sensitive to even the smallest

imperfection and then…

…then we can begin to LIVE FOR

GOD IN CHRIST.

Living for God in Christ is the best

definition of HUMAN LIFE. We

who are the children of the

Resurrection, have to accept that

definition and make the heart of our

human experience.

WE LIVE IN GOD FOR CHRIST

when we bring to others a ray of

sunshine and a touch of heaven;

when we share with others the glory

and beauty of Easter by helping them

improve their quality of life and urge

them on to join Jesus and us in the

conquest of death and sin; when we

truly care for our brothers and

sisters, that is we care enough to act

in their behalf, rather than just talk

for them, when we LOVE GOD IN

ALL HIS CHILDREN.

FATHER, HOW WONDERFUL

YOUR CARE FOR US! HELP

YOUR CHILDREN

EVERYWHERE FIND THEIR

EASTER VICTORY BY WASHING

AWAY THEIR SINS AND

GROWING TOGETHER IN YOUR

HOLINESS.

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL
