TUESDAY NOTE – February 6, 2018 Principal’s Message: Our weeklong celebration of Catholic Schools Week was a wonderful success. The students had a lot of fun at the pep rally and really enjoyed the St. Paul’s Band. A special thanks is extended to the PTCC, Dana Doyle, and the CSW Committee, Beth Ware and Amy Wolfe, who made this a memorable week. On behalf of the faculty and staff, I would like to thank Kristy Bourgeois, Robyn Henry, Libby Villa, and everyone who helped to make Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week so special. Congratulations to our sixth grade students who participated in the Regional Social Studies Fair at Southeastern Louisiana University on Wednesday, January 31 st . The results are listed on page 2. Last Friday, our dance team marched in the Krewe of Eve parade. The young ladies did a wonderful job representing Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic School. I am very proud of them. I would like to thank Lindsay Bellina, Mandy Catalano, our two seventh graders that carried the banner the entire 6 miles, and all of the chaperones for making this a special event. Last week, our JV NIAL boys’ basketball team made it to the quarter finals, and our JVII NIAL girls’ team made it to the semi-finals. Great job, boys and girls! Congratulations to our NIAL Girls Varsity Basketball team for advancing to the playoffs. All playoff games will be held this week. Best of luck girls! Re-registration packets for current students in kindergarten through sixth grade were due on January 26, 2018. If you have any questions concerning re-registration, please call the school office at (985) 626-5678 Ext. 134. Tours for parents of prospective new students entering kindergarten – 5 th grades for the 2018-2019 school year are available. Please contact Paula Johnson at 626-5678 Ext. 134 to schedule a tour or for further information. The Student Council will be hosting a Talent Show on Wednesday, February 7 th , at 6:30 p.m. in the Msgr. Joseph Chotin Center. We will celebrate Grandparents’ Day at Our Lady of the Lake this Friday, February 9 th . This special day is for all students and their grandparents or special guests. This day will be a half-day with 11:15 a.m. dismissal, no lunch, no aftercare, and no p.m. bus service. Please note that the children should be in full school uniform for Grandparents’ Day. This will also be the beginning of our Mardi Gras break. I wish you and your family a Happy Mardi Gras and a safe and enjoyable holiday. School will resume on Monday, February 19 th . Please note, in recognition of all the hard work of our students, faculty, and staff during the AdvancED reaccreditation process, Fr. Mark has granted a school holiday on Friday, February 26 th . If you have not given to the Annual Fund, there is still time to do so. Please give whatever you can. As always, you and your family are in my prayers. Frank P. NEWS FROM THE NEST We are looking forward to a wonderful morning with our grandparents and special guests as we celebrate Grandparents’ Day on Friday, February 9th. If you would like to help the committee with decorations on Thursday, February 8th, or at the event on Friday, February 9th, please contact one of our committee chairpersons Katherine Hodgins at [email protected] or Jill Dupont at [email protected] We will be celebrating our January, February, and March birthdays at Birthday Lunch on Thursday, February 22nd. Look for your guest forms, which will be sent home this week with all children who are celebrating birthdays in these months. Mark your calendar for another special night at OLL. On Wednesday, April 18th, at 6:00 p.m., we will hold our PTCC General Meeting featuring the Taste of Tammany Student Art Projects Auction. Come enjoy a night of fellowship and fun. Receive updates on school activities and have a chance to bid on beautiful pieces of art created by our OLL children. Refreshments and hors d’ oeuvres will be served. It’s a night you won’t want to miss! Last week, we celebrated our teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. We would like to thank our Teacher Appreciation Chairpersons Kristy Bourgeois, Robyn Henry, and Libby Villa, and the entire committee for making last week extra special for our awesome teachers and staff. Thanks to everyone who helped make our Catholic Schools Week Pep Rally a big success. Our students, faculty, parents, and special guests were all full of cardinal spirit as we culminated a great week.

Last Friday, our OLL Caring Cardinal School Drive Committee collected nonperishable food items for the Samaritan Center. Thank you to everyone who donated; your generosity is much appreciated. We would like to thank our committee chairpersons, Rhonda Meral and Nikki Spreen, for organizing this event. There are many upcoming PTCC events, so please mark your calendar for these activities: Friday, February 9th – Grandparents’ Day Thursday, February 22nd – Birthday Lunch (celebrating January, February, and March birthdays) If you have any questions, please feel free to contact a PTCC board member. MOM’S ROSARY GROUP Wednesday August 16th, is the first meeting of the Mom's Rosary Group. We meet the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:45 a.m. in the church near the statue of the Blessed Mother to pray the rosary for our students and school community. The remaining dates are:

Tuesday Note Deadline: If you wish to publish something in our Tuesday newsletter, you must first send your submission to Mr. Smith via e-mail for his approval. All submissions must be received by 3:00 p.m. on the previous Friday. No exceptions will be made to this deadline. Office Notes: Parents – We need your help! Please make sure that notes sent to the office regarding your child are on a full size sheet of paper, written in blue or black ink, and include the following: date, child’s name (first and last), homeroom, parent name and phone number, bus number or name of person picking up your child, and signature. Please do not send emails. Please be specific! Thanks for your help. Early Check Out Procedure: We ask that you make all necessary appointments for your child after school hours. However, if you need to check your child out early, you must come to the school office prior to 1:45 p.m. and sign them out. The office staff will call for your child to meet you in the office. No students will be dismissed after 1:45 p.m. This is done to ensure the safe dismissal of all students. Thank you for your cooperation. Transportation Changes: To ensure the safety of your children, changes in your child’s afternoon transportation should only be made in the event of

The purpose of this program is to allow fathers and sons to grow together in knowledge God’s gift of human fertility and becoming a man in His image. Presentations given by health professionals and Catholic speakers explore the gift of sexuality and the virtue of chastity. The program is based on the teachings of Pope Saint John Paul II’s “Theology of the Body”, and is meant to foster the relationship between father and son.
