Today we celebrate the second Sunday in Ordinary Time. Today’s gospel tells us that John the Baptist recognizes Jesus as “The Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world.” First: The Role of John the Baptist. Let us be grateful and thank John the Baptist for unveiling the mystery of God by telling us who Jesus really is; that “Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.” Like John the Baptist, we all are called to give our testimonies and bring others to Jesus as the Lamb of God, Savior of the world. Second: Jesus is the Lamb of God. “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world”. These are the words of John the Baptist when he saw Jesus coming toward him. The sacrifice of a lamb played an important part in the Old Testament especially in the book of Exodus. And at the Last supper and at the cross (New Testament), Jesus became the Lamb of God, by sacrificing His own life to take away our sins. Third: The Eucharist What a gift for us as Catholics to have the gift of the Eucharist! Right before the Holy communion, the priest raises the host and says, “Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb”. And to the invitation, we respond, “Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.” Let us be proud to be Catholics; to have the Lamb of God available for us in a special way every time we celebrate the Eucharist. Let us say yes to the will of God; to lay down our life for each other as Jesus-the Lamb of God has done for us. Amen. Our Lady Star of the Sea Pray for us
Fr. Emanuel

Mass Intention and Sanctuary Candle Request Forms: The practice of requesting a mass to be offered for loved ones, living and deceased, is a beautiful and wonderful part of our Catholic tradition. Also, here at our church each week, we dedicate our sanctuary candle for our loved ones, living and deceased. Please take this opportunity to show your love to your loved ones by requesting a mass intention or dedicating the sanctuary candle for them. All requests must be submitted on the request forms which are available at the rear of the church. Completed forms with stipends/donation can be put in the collection basket, if they are in an envelope marked “Mass Intensions”. Forms can also be mailed or brought to the church office during office hours.
Mass Intentions:
Mass intentions may be requested for weekday as well as masses weekend.
