First of all, as we celebrate Fathers’ Day this weekend, I would like to wish all fathers “Happy Father’s Day”. May God continue to bless you! Dear fathers, what an honor for us to be called Abba, father, dad! For indeed, Jesus taught us to call God "Abba, Father”. We are indeed the visible presence of our heavenly father here on earth. So, let us be proud to be called fathers, and let us try our best by the grace of God to show the image our Heavenly Father by being good fathers to our children. Today we celebrate the Twelve Sunday in Ordinary Time. Jesus in today’s gospel reminds us not to be afraid, rather to put our faith and trust in God - Our Heavenly Father who is our provider and protector. Three times in today’s Gospel Jesus tells us clearly not to be afraid.” “Fear no one. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known. What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.” (Matt 10:26-27) “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul” (Matt 10:28) Do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.” (Matt 10:31-32) The reason why Jesus tells us these words is that our Heavenly Father has great concern for us all. God knows us well. He knows our needs and situations. Prophet Jeremiah in today’s first reading tells us the same message, not to worry nor be afraid because God is always with us and he will protect us from all evil. Amen .

Pastor’s Letter to parishioners: Dear parishioners of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Since June 6, public Mass has been celebrated in church using 50% of the occupancy of the church. The following directives are to be implemented for each Mass: 1. The people of the Archdiocese are dispensed from
the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. 2. If someone is vulnerable and not feeling well,
they should not celebrate Mass in church with other people.
3. Social distancing must be observed – 6 feet apart.
4. Regarding the celebration of Mass:
• Ministers and parishioners should wear a mask.
• The priest/deacons should wear a mask at communion.
• Give communion with no bodily contact. Gently let the host touch the person’s hand and drop it in their hand without touching them.
• Communion on the tongue is not encouraged.
• The chalice with the precious blood is not to be offered.
• The sign of peace can be given by bowing to the other person.
• As people depart from Mass, social distancing must be observed.
5. For all of us here at Our Lady Star of the Sea catholic Church: We will continue to have Facebook live streaming of our Sunday masses in the next few weeks. Thank you for your patience with all of this! The number who may attend will increase gradually, but in the meantime, we want to cooperate, so the virus does not spread. Stay safe and God bless you Fr. Emanuel Tanu, SVD Pastor
