OUR MISSION STATEMENT

As followers of Jesus Christ, our mission is to - Worship together as a community of faith, - Invite everyone to share the gift of God’s love, - Nurture each other in the faith, - Serve others in the spirit of Christ, and - Proclaim His way of peace, justice and reconciliation.

FAITH CHURCH FAMILY NEWS

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS … Nurses will be in the Health Wellness Room immediately following worship today to check blood pressures. Please stop by to have yours checked.

SENIOR COFFEE … on Labor Day (tomorrow, 09/05/16) will be at Charley's at the usual time of 9:00 am.

HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GAME NIGHT … This Wednesday, September 7, 2016, 7:00 pm. We will be meeting with other area church youth groups for a game night here at Faith Mennonite Church - Fellowship Hall.

FAITH MISSION CIRCLE … The first Mission Circle meeting this fall is Monday, September 12, 2016, at 7:15 pm, in the Fellowship Hall. The evening will include a presentation, “Building Bamboo Bikes in Congo,” by Chuck Regier, installation of officers, an offering for Camp Mennoscah and project items for Community Playschool. Everyone is welcome.

HANDBELL CHOIR … Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00 pm. Anyone is welcome to learn to ring with us. If you are interested, please contact Nola Stucky or any bell ringer. We have a full choir at the moment but are always needing substitutes, so please feel free to talk with us!

BEYOND FAITH CHURCH

LAUGHTER IS SACRED SPACE … Is on tour and coming to Buhler, KS, during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month today, 7:00 pm, Buhler High School (611 N Main St, Buhler, KS 67522). $2.00 admission, open to the public. URGENT NEED … Join us for a MCC Kit Bag Assembly Party on Friday, September 9, 2016, 9:00 am-3:00 pm, at MCC in North Newton (121 E 30th), lunch will be provided. Cutting, ironing and sewing stations will be set up to help meet the need. Call 316-283-2720 to RSVP. Please indicate if you can bring a sewing machine or serger that day. Donations of medium weight cotton fabric at least one yard in length and neutral thread are needed. Please no heavy denim or double knit. Bring your friends and come join in the fun!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED … The Kansas MDS is calling for volunteers to do some fencing and chainsaw work at Medicine Lodge for Saturday, September 10, 2016. One group of volunteers will leave at 6:00 am, from First Mennonite Church in Newton and another group will leave at 6:00 am, from Bethel Mennonite Church in Inman. Volunteers are asked to report availability and for more information by calling the Kansas Unit Coordinator Gordon U.

ANNUAL VILLA DAYS CELEBRATION AT SCHOWALTER VILLA … September 8-10, 2016. Highlights of the event include a bake sale, Friday night dinner, homemade ice cream and entertainment at Water’s Edge, and breakfast and a live auction Saturday at Dyck Arboretum. Many vintage items, beautiful quilts and gift certificates will be available for bid. Flyer posted on the bulletin board in foyer.

RETIREMENT INCOME SEMINAR … Everence Financial will present an informational seminar, Creating your retirement income strategy, at 7 p.m. on the following Mondays: Sept. 12 and Oct. 10. Everence Financial Advisor Robert Wall will speak about having enough for retirement, making your savings last and coping with the financial markets. There will also be time for your questions. THE ANNUAL MCC FLATLANDER BICYCLE RIDE … Will be held on Saturday, September 17, originating at the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) offices (121 East 30th Street, North Newton). This year’s ride will raise funds for an MCC water development project in Mozambique. Rides of approximately 35, 45, and 65 miles, as well as a shorter family ride, are planned. Both bikers and contributors are needed! Contributions for this MCC project from non-bikers should be made payable to MCC; “Flatlander Bike Ride” written on the memo line; and sent to: MCC, PO Box 235, North Newton, KS 67117. MARK YOUR CALENDAR … Saturday, September 24, 2016, 1:30-4:30 pm, as Kauffman Museum hosts (for one day only) the traveling exhibit “A Place for All People” that celebrates the grand opening of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. At 3:00 pm, director Annette LeZotte will present a program on how the national museum developed and how it changes the visual landscape of the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
