Overall, we are enjoying learning the ropes of parenng and being able to share the love of God with him. I have never experienced anything in my life that comes close. I dont know how you can see the process of a child entering the world and then taking care of that child without seeing the hand of God. The other day as I was holding Owen, I realized I would do anything for him, including giving up my life for him. It made me think of how hard it must have been for God to give up his son. I couldnt do it. Sing there with Owen, tears flowed in appreciaon of God and his love for Owen and for me. To be honest, I longed to be a dad for many years, but did not want to rush into it without first enjoying my marriage. Lile did I know as much as my marriage changed me, this last week has made me into a different person. I realized the change a few days ago and my wife told me last night that I was more joyful than she had ever seen me. Other people said they can see it as well. The truth is, I have struggled deeply in life. My parents divorced when I was 11 or so and there were other unfortunate events in my life that were beyond my control that leſt scars and lots of pain and hurt. There were days where I wanted to give up on everything, including life itself. The only thing that kept me going was the hope of God, knowing that one day all would be made right, made possible by the death, burial and resurrecon of Jesus Christ. I see Owen as a giſt from God and thank Him for providing for me in my own life. As I connue to grow older, I connue to grow in my appreciaon of Gods work through Jesus Christ. Care & Outreach

Here is a reflection I wrote for one of my grad school professors when Owen was one week old. I am thankful to God, our Father, for blessing me beyond measure. Today I celebrate my first Father’s Day!

I just wanted to give you an update on Owen. He is doing well, and we are learning to adjust and take care of our little guy, although it has been stressful at times. The stressful times mostly come in the middle of the

night. This is probably expected due to exhaustion and wanting to sleep so the next moment Owen needs we are ready to tend to him. I find myself each and every day praying to God, asking him for energy and for him to help us as parents. My short time Owen has been here has reminded me I need to depend on God each and every day. Overall, we are enjoying learning the ropes of parenting and being able to share the love of God with him. I have never experienced anything in my life that comes close. I don’t know how you can see the process of a child entering the world and then taking care of that child without seeing the hand of God.

The other day as I was holding Owen, I realized I would do anything for him, including giving up my life for him. It made me think of how hard it must have been for God to give up his son. I couldn’t do it. Sitting there with Owen, tears flowed in appreciation of God and his love for Owen and for me.

To be honest, I longed to be a dad for many years, but did not want to rush into it without first enjoying my marriage. Little did I know as much as my marriage changed me, this last week has made me into a different person. I realized the change a few days ago and my wife told me last night that I was more joyful than she had ever seen me. Other people said they can see it as well.

The truth is, I have struggled deeply in life. My parents divorced when I was 11 or so and there were other unfortunate events in my life that were beyond my control that left scars and lots of pain and hurt. There were days where I wanted to give up on everything, including life itself. The only thing that kept me going was the hope of God, knowing that one day all would be made right, made possible by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I see Owen as a gift from God and thank Him for providing for me in my own life. As I continue to grow older, I continue to grow in my appreciation of God’s work through Jesus Christ. God has taught me so much through Owen already and I look forward to seeing what he reveals to me in the future, both near and far. Happy Father’s Day!

PRAYER REQUESTS Brad Arnold - brother of Greg Arnold & son of Beverly Arnold, had successful heart bypass surgery Monday, June 15, in Fairfax, VA.

Pam Bell - is undergoing testing for a chronic condition she has been struggling with for several months.

Joe Burton - father of Jennifer Baxter, started palliative chemo treatments Monday, June 15. Jennifer & Bryce are with him in Odessa and will plan to be there for a week.

Bill Devalcourt - father of Jeanette Abbasi, saw his primary care physician Tuesday, June 16, to discuss a treatment plan, and to determine if seeing a neurosurgeon is needed.

Peter Herb - tested positive for Covid a few weeks ago. He had another test performed June 17 and is waiting on the results. He remains at home hoping to overcome weakness brought about by the virus.

Derek May - finally received insurance approval for the PET scan he needed. Praise God it came back all clear. Derek shared, “No lymph node involvement and my bones are clear and show signs of healing. Thank you for all the prayers. I still have a long way to go in recovery…” He had a blood transfusion Tuesday, June 16, which he will need from time to time due to his medication causing a low blood count.

Caroline Petersen - recently tested positive for Covid. Symptoms have been mild, and we pray they do not intensify.

Pedro Sanchez - his condition remains very critical from Covid though there have been a few positive signs this week. He remains in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator. They have been able to turn him face up. The plan is to lighten the coma and watch his breathing function hoping for improvement. Pedro and his son, Pablo, are missionaries in Santiago Chile who we help support.

Pablo Sanchez - son of Pedro Sanchez, is making improvement and remains at home, but still weak. Pablo’s wife, Laura, may not yet be considered well, but was not as sick as Pablo or Pedro. They have asked for prayers for others in their congregation who have the virus.

Don Schaefer - father of Ben Schaefer, is scheduled for bypass surgery Monday, June 22. Prayers are requested for Don & Marcy as well as the entire Schaefer family.

Marion Sills - brother of Lottie Norsworthy, has had fluid removed from around his heart following surgery and plans to move to a rehab facility.

John Templeton - 93 year old cousin of Leah Dorman, is working to regain his strength following a bout with pneumonia.

Brenda Thompson - sister-in-law of Ray Thompson, fell recently and broke her arm near the shoulder. The ball of the humerus bone is split and she has several other broken pieces in her arm and shoulder. She was scheduled for day surgery Friday, June 19, in McKinney.

Vizzy Vizina - remains at Brookdale Galleria.

Rod Walsh - founder of the Forgotten Sinners Ministry, is recovering at home after a short stay in the hospital due to pneumonia. His wife, Kitty, has been hospitalized, not covid related. In addition, Rod’s brother passed away last week.

Lou Warren - was scheduled for a heart procedure Wednesday, June 17.

SYMPATHY Norman “Buddy” Garner - uncle of Steve Garner and younger brother to former member, Jim Garner, passed away Saturday, June 13. Buddy and wife, Shirley attended our Young at Hearts events. Your prayers for the family, for Shirley and especially for Jim Garner are appreciated.

SUNDAY MORNING - ONLINE BIBLE TIME PRESCHOOL - 9:00 A.M.; ELEMENTARY - 9:30 A.M.

How has our family been doing during quarantine?

How have you been spending your time?

Spending our time indoors was probably the hardest thing since

we like the outdoors. The most important thing was to slow

down and reconnect as a family. We love walking, playing cards and dominoes. TrevyAnn and Malana have been cooking

and baking more. Our family devotionals have been deeper & more meaningful - The Bitting Family

What blessings have you found?

It's been uncomfortable, but awesome for me to slow down. I usually like to be on the go, always moving forward, but having a slower pace recently has provided lots of rest, refocusing, and restoration while I'm in a limbo period with my job. God has more than taken care of me in the mean time. It has been challenging at times because I've had to truly lean on God as the provider of the present and the future. The facade that I'm in any sort of control has been torn away. The challenges have been such great blessings too, though, because they've served in building my faith. I'm thankful for all of these things and my MCOC family! - Jayson McKinley

What blessings have you found?

“Sarah and Abraham named their son Isaac, which means laughter. Sarah said to herself, "God has brought me laughter." Well, y’all.... God has brought me Isaac! So much Isaac! I have laughed so much during this quarantine, and I don't want to stop. My joy is overflowing. Roots of new relationships have grown deep. I've discovered a new, colorful way to study my Bible. (If any of you are Instagrammers, check out @my.journey.with.jesus) And through these times of uncertainty, God has never stopped providing. Laughter. Joy. Relationships. Community. Pleasure from the Word. Provision. My cup overflows. I serve an awesome God who never ceases to remind me how much He cares for me. So do you. - Amber Aubrey
