Our leather undergoes a combination tanning process from century-old tanneries in the Netherlands and the UK. First, it’s tanned with a Chrome Salt solution to make the leather flexible, more resistant to heat and scratching. Then a Vegetable solution makes it firmer and more water-resistant.

Over the years our leather goods will become softer but not weaker, and will develop a distressed vintage look. Brushed wax on the edges of D&T leather prevents fraying and provides a smooth finish. Stitching is made of waxed or neoprene thread. Customers can expect their D&T leather to last for years.

Most collars that are single-ply have nickel buckles, rivets, and D-rings, however for an additional charge solid brass is also available. Most double-ply collars’ hardware is solid brass. Decoration is made of various metals and natural stones.

The basket is designed for maximum ventilation and the nose area is comfortably padded with natural heavy felt. This muzzle is acceptable for long time supervised use because it allows the dog to pant and drink water freely.

Basket muzzles can be used over a long period because they allow dogs to pant and drink water. The other type of muzzle, occlusion, closes the mouth and are only acceptable for short term use. The choice of a wire basket or leather basket is a personal one but there are certain factors to consider, like if you live in extreme climates leather baskets are better insulation.
