An effective earth connection to the workpiece is essential for perfect manual or automatic welding. Ever increasing demands on the quality of welded parts make it necessary to use specially developed current transmission elements. In many cases this eliminates a frequent source of trouble.

Current couplings Type NKKfor current loads between 400 and 2000 AFor rotating workpieces, an earth connection with a current coupling is the safest and best solution. This extremely solid, rotatable current transmission element is built to withstand rough handling.

To attach the coupling to the workpiece, special polechucks, binders and permanently magnetic adhesion devices are available. (see page 3, 5, 7)

The magnetic current coupling HKK 600 has been proving its reliability as an earth coupling in tank construction for many years.

Rotatable welding current transmission devices for machinery and fixtures

Current couplings Type NKK . . . S 1

for current loads between 400 and 2000 A

The easy fitting and the robust design ensure a permanent and extremely safe transmission of current.

Fastening is done with a set screw DIN 913-10K, which is placed axially between the current coupling and the rotating machine component. The casing must be secured against torsion by means of stops on the right and on the left with about 2 mm clearance to the terminal lug. Flexible cables or braided copper strips are recommended for connection.

Depending on the application the rotation speed under power load should not exceed 5 revolutions per minute.

The devices are provided with lubricating nipples and must be relubricated as specified in the operating manual. Only special grease P 34 should be used for lubrication.

A manual grease gun filled with special grease P 34, a nameplate with lubricating instructions as well as fitting and operating instructions are supplied.


The use of an electronically controlled grease cup is recommended, please see overleaf.

The robust design ensures a permanent and extremely safe transmission of current.

The devices are designed for axial screw-fastening to the face of a shaft. The hexagon socket screw is accessible when the rear plug is removed.

Flexible cables or braided copper strips are recommended for connection. The torque support must have a clearance of about 2 mm to the bolts provided on the casing. In no case, the casing should be tightly bolted.




Repairs must only be carried out by the manufacturer.The use of an electronically controlled grease cup is recommended, please see overleaf.

Current carrying capacity of welding cablesThe data specified below apply to welding cables with sheating of a synthetic caoutchouc compound for a limiting temperature of 80° C.

Load ratings apply to continuous duty (DB) and intermittent service at 30° C ambient temperature. The duty cycles (ED), 85 %, 80 %, 60 %, 35 %, 20 % and 8 % with a cycle duration of 10 minutes are specified for manual welding operations (HSB). Manual welding operations with a 60 % duty cycle (ED) are termed nominal manual welding operations. This cycle consists of 6 minutes of operation and a 4 minute resting period.

The longer the cables, the higher the resistance. For cable lengths in excess of 20 metres, the next larger cross-section should be used.
