Sunday Scripture Discussion Meeting Sunday mornings, 9:30-10:25 am in the church library, with lively discussion, teaching and fellowship, deepen your understanding of the gospel, epistle, and Old Testament readings of the day’s worship service. A different person leads the discussion each week. This week’s leader is Ken Sauer. Please contact Carl Peterson for more information. Stewardship Corner Jesus said, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions” (Luke 12:15). In contrast to Jesus’ warning, the world tells us that greed is good. Our society makes every effort to entice us to live a materialistic lifestyle. Costly and manipulative advertising bombards us daily for the purpose of creating a desire for more and more things. We are told that we need one luxury after another. Only with the help of the Holy Spirit will we not fall prey to the pulls of the world. God calls us to be in the world but not of the world. As John wrote, “Do not love the world or anything in the world” (1 John 2:15). Through faith, we know that “the world and its desires pass away,” but those who follow the Lord will live forever. (1 John 2:17). For more info on stewardship, contact Max Buban at [email protected] or 614-771-9460.

The family of Dot Wheatley has kindly donated the following books that Dot found especially helpful in her growth in faith and they wanted to share them with the congregation.

The Woman’s Study Bible - A comprehensive Bible (New King James version) that includes helpful background information about each chapter and verse. It’s an excellent tool for women’s Bible study. The Music of His Promises - An uplifting book that brings light into our darkest days. “On dark days when the only song we feel like singing is a dirge, we can pray, ‘Let the music of thy promises be on my tongue.’” (Psalm 119:172) A Woman God Can Use - An excellent resource of learning how women of the Old Testament can help today’s women make good life choices. 40 Days and 40 Nights - An up-to-date devotional for your faith journey for Lent.

Thank you to the Wheatley family for sharing some of Dot’s faith-forming resources. These titles are on display in the church library.
