Over the past hundred years, people around the world have been using the study of philosophy. It is because of the wise ancient Greek philosophers who started all of this. Some of these philosophers were Plato, Socrates and Aristotle.
These men each have a certain, different way of thinking that we’ve learned and studied. Without their thoughts and beliefs, we would not be questioning or thinking the way we do today. Due to their reasoning's, the philosopher's of today can also elaborate and use their conclusions to find what we know today.
Have you ever asked yourself, why you were put on this planet? Who created you? Why we use the words we use today?
Well believe it or not, that’s what philosophy is all about…
The Importance of Philosophy
Aristotle
• That an idea has no power to produce the corresponding concrete object.
• That the form, rather than the idea, held in the mind has a tendency to produce a concrete reality like itself.
• That metaphysical power and action achieve an outcome of complete development governed by four kinds of causes
Plato• what we see around us are no more than
distortions of the truth
• Plato believed that all people in some way desired happiness.
• There was another world beyond this changeable and destructible one in which we live. Plato asserted that what we see and touch are only very distantly related to the ultimate realities that exist
Socrates
• Socrates believed in a god or gods and in the immortality of the soul.
