Overview of Cryogenic Air Separation and Liquefier Systems Cryogenic air separation processes are routinely used in medium to large scale plants to produce nitrogen, oxygen, and argon as gases and/ or liquid products. Cryogenic air separation is the preferred technology for producing very high purity oxygen and nitrogen. It is the most cost effective technology for high production rate plants. All plants producing liquefied industrial gas products utilize cryogenic technology. The energy required to operate a cryogenic plant depends on the product mix and required product purities. It requires more power to separate and purify oxygen than nitrogen, and it requires more than twice as much power to produce these products as liquids rather than as gases. Overview of Cryogenic Air Separation

Cryogenic air separation is the preferred technology for producing very high purity oxygen and nitrogen. It is the most cost effective technology for high production rate plants.  All plants producing liquefied industrial gas products utilize cryogenic technology.

Salah satu aplikasi kesetimbangan uap cair adalah dalam pembuatan minyak Biodiesel dengan menggunakan pelarut

metanol. Minyak kotor, kemudian dihidrasi menghasilkan minyak dehidrasi yang nantinya akan di campur dengan

menggunakan katalis dan pelarut metanol. Campuran ini kemudian akan dimasukkan dalam reaktor yang kemudian di

sentrifusi. Hasil sentrifusi ini adalah biodiesel, metanol dan katalis. Selain itu ada hasil lain yaitu gliserin dan metanol. Hasil

utama dari sentrifusi tadi yang berupa katalis, metanol dan biodiesel diproses kembali dan menghasilkan campuran antara

metanol dan biodiesel.

Campuran ini kemudian

didestilasi yang ahirnya kan

menghasilkan metanol kotor dan

biodiesel. Hasil samping dari

sentrifusi awal yang berupa gliserin

dan metanol kemudian didestilasi

untuk menghasilkan metanol kotor

dan gliserin yang belum tersuling.

Metanol kotor dari hasil awal dari

hasil destilasi dicampurkan dan

didehidrasi yang akan menghasilkan

air dan metanol murni. Sedangkan

gliserin yang belum disuling/ belum

tersuling kemudian dimurnikan

kembali secara optimal dan

menghasilkan gliserin yang murni.

Hasil dari proses ini adalah biodiesel,

air gliserin dan metanol, dimana metanol murni yang telah diperoleh akan digunkan kembali dalam proses selanjutnya

sebagai pelarut yang dicampurkan dengan metanol yang baru.
