About The Department

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering was established in the

year 1983 and is now recognised as one of the leading departments with

infrastructure and facilities to match the very best in the country. The

department remains committed towards its mission, which is twofold. One is

to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and problem solving

skills in Computer Science required for a fulfilling career. The other goal is to

create and disseminate knowledge to improve Computer Science research,

education and practice.

The department has academic collaborations with University of New

Brunswick, Canada, University of Melbourne, Australia and University of

Manitoba, Canada.

Department Vision

The department strives to be recognized for outstanding education and

research, leading to excellent professionals and innovators in the field of

Computer Science and Engineering, who can positively contribute to the

society.

Undergraduate Programme

The Department offers a four-year B.E. programme in Computer Science

and Engineering in eight semesters. All programmes are accredited by the

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The Undergraduate Programme offfered by the Department are:

B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering(4 years: 8-semesters)

B.E. in Information Technology (4 years: 8-semesters)

Postgraduate Programmes

The Masters programme offered by the Department are:

M.E.in Software Engineering (2 years: 4-semesters)

M.Tech in Computer Science (2 years: 4-semesters)

M.Tech in Information Technology(2 years: 4-semesters)

M.Tech in Information Security( 2 years: 4-semesters)

Master of Computer Application( 3 years: 6- semesters)

Integrated M.Sc. (5 years : 10 semesters)

1. CAMPUS RECRUITMENT PROGRAMME for Integrated M.Sc. ,B.E. and M.E.

Final year students.

2. 6 MONTH INTERNS RECRUITMENT PROGRAMME for Integrated M.Sc. , B.E.

and M.E. Final year students.

3. SUMMER INTERNS RECRUITMENT PROGRAMME for B.E. ,M.E.Pre-final year

students for a period of 6-8 weeks of internship.(15th May -15th July).

Extracurricular Activities

The program promotes extra-curricular activities in a plethora of domains. Students

have shown active participation in many regional and national platforms and have

returned with numerous awards.

Following is a glimpse of the involvement shown by the students:

1. Team comprising six students of our department participated in the CLOUD BASED INNOVATION LAB launched by Amdocs India Innovation team. The team

bagged the FIRST prize nationwide with their cloud based project on : Establishing

centralised server for better log monitoring and management

2. Team of five participated and

bagged the FIRST prize

in the SMART INDIAN HACKATHON 2017 under the

region of ministry of external affair with their project building a PGP

end to end encryption mail server alond with an Android application

3. Team comprising of five students participated in the SMART INDIA HACKATHON 2017 and become one of the 1200 teams that

qualified for the onsite out of 7000 teams nationwide with their

project being based on: an Application for centralized grievance

redressal system for Municipal Corporation and Web based portal for

tracking progress.

4. Positive results in Google Summer of Code 2017

and Google Summer of Code 2016. Google Summer of Code is a global program focused

on bringing more student developers into open source

software development. Students work with an

open source organisation on a 3 month

programming project during their break from school.

5 . M-GOV APP HACKATHON 2015(UIDAI,India): Made a cross-platform app for

reporting issues to officials and perform

public voting for solving them as

per their voted prioroty. Duration- 24 hours.

6. Received bronze medal in nation-wide

coding platform HackerRank. Active participation in online coding

contests by most of the students.

Clubs like ACM and CSA promote

learning and exposure.

Active participation in

ACM-ICPC every year.

Comprehensive and productive research is carried on in several fields like

Bio-informatics, DNA Computing,Parallel Computing, Image Processing,

Intelligent Systems, Rough Sets, DNA Nanorobotics, Software Engineering,
