  • Brochure

Description: A full-bleed brochure on Disneyland

Process:First I sketched out my ideas and saw on paper what would work best. Next I made the outline in InDesign and spaced everything accordingly, as well as placed the pictures and text boxes in their desired spots. Next I filled in the text boxes with actual text and made sure the pictures and text aligned and were in their right positions. I also used Photoshop to make the gold dots and stars that are used in the background of the brochure. Lastly, I made sure it was how I wanted it to look and went and printed it a few times at AlphaGraphics to make sure it was how I wanted it.

Message: The awesome little-known facts about Disneyland

Audience: People wanting tips or more insight on Disneyland, families looking for a getaway or vacation and how to make the most out of it

  • Event Ad

Description: A full-bleed ad event flier using only Microsoft Word and a scanned image.

Process: In this project, we were to scan an image from a magazine book, etc., to make into a flier that had a sponsor and a benefactor. I used Microsoft Word. I used a friends sketchbook piece as the main focus for this art event. I used colors related to his piece of work (mostly black and tan). The goal was to be able to navigate through Word if expected to use it on a budget.

Message: I am advertising for a fundraiser for Autism using local artists work and donations.

Audience: People who love artwork or appreciate the work of local artists, as well as people who are willing to support further research for Autsim.

Color scheme and color names: Monochromatic; Brown, tan, black

  • Photodesign

Description:A full-bleed photodesign poster featuring a picture we took and its color scheme all edited and put together in Photoshop.

Process:First I took pictures of various things, learning different styles and types of photography. Next I chose one of those photos and played around on Photoshop to see what looked best for the photo (filter and edit wise). Then I added the quote, color scheme and color scheme names used in the design. This poster went through a few critiques as well. All that was used on this project was Photoshop and a DSLR camera.

Message: Look for light in dark situations.

Audience: Anyone looking for a motivation to keep on keeping on.

  • Business Cards

Description: Front and back designs of a made-up business card

Process:First I took one of the logos I was working on last week and used that for this project. I took the outline of the car and re-did it, so the flow and movement of the car was smoother. For the other side, I used the same car outline in the bottom corner, just repeating the same design. I used the same color of red for the title of the card to also incorporate some repetition.

Message: A professional-looking and reliable auto repair shop

Audience: People in need of car repairs

Top Thing Learned: The helpfulness of knowing that more than one artboard can be used and visible at a time

  • Logos

    Description: A made-up company logo.

Process:First, I brainstormed what I wanted to make a logo for. I sketched out a few ideas to see which would work best as a logo, and see which ideas would actually turn out good on paper. I roughly made three logos and once I received some feedback, took one of those logos and revised it until it was the way I wanted it to be. This project was used solely in Illustrator and was a little difficult. The anchor tool gave me the most trouble. But what I love about Illustrator is that no matter how much you zoom in or zoom out, the picture stays the same resolution, which is amazing.

Message: To entice people to get their car repaired at Bales Body Shop.

Audience: People who are looking for a reliable and affordable body shop.

Top Thing Learned: How to generally use the anchor tools

Color Scheme and Color Names: Monochromatic Red

Title / Body Font Names & Categories: Avenir Next Condensed San Serif

  • Web Page

Description: A web page coded from HTML and CSS

Process:First I took my logo from the last project and created a page describing it. Next I learned a bit about the dos and donts of coding for HTML and CSS. Notepad++ and TextWrangler were used to create the HTML and CSS pages. Photoshop was also used in finding the right colors and fonts for my web page.

Message:Information behind the logo creation of the best body shop around!

Audience: People interested in the creation of said logo

Top Thing Learned: I learned that the smallest things in HTML can throw off the entire web pages design. You have to be extremely precise and careful when working with HTML and CSS, as well as consistent

Color scheme and color hex(s):Monochromatic (red), with grey and black accents

Title Font Families & Category: Engravers Gothic sans serif

Copy Font Families & Category: Diotima old style Changes made to the CSS: I added color, different fonts, changed the margins and padding, the size of the body, the background image was put in, the font size and colors, added my own blog link, etc.

I used the same font and contact information plus the format for the paper. I also put the car outline logo in the stationery and made it fit together better than just threw it on the page.

Message: A professional-looking and reliable auto repair shop

  • Flier

Description:Grey scaled flier to inform college graduates of a business opportunity to learn more leadership skills.

Process:The first step of my process was to create four possible sketches for my layout. Then I chose one of the four to create in InDesign. After my first draft was as complete as I could get it, I had 2 peers, one roommate who is a Graphic Design major and another student from my Comm 130 class give me constructive feedback using the Critique Checklist. After I got feedback from those two, plus from my teacher, I made the changes necessary for the final product.

Message:The message I am trying to relay here is that there is a conference that will help college graduates become better leaders and attain better and/or more leadership skills.

Audience:College graduates, preferably recent, ages 22 to 32.

Top thing learned:I learned how important alignment is and how it can bring the whole project together.

  • Montage

    Description: A full-bleed motivational montage.

Process:This project was done all on Photoshop. I took a picture for the background and blended in two others to make the montage. I added the quote last and then flattened the layers to make it one picture.
