  • Business CardProgram(s) used: Adobe Illustrator, InDesignDate: June 12, 2015Course: Communication 130Objectives: Use basic skills in Illustrator and InDesign incorporating with typography rules.Process: I started sketching some ideas that I had. However, those did not have a message to the audience, so I had to give up all the ideas and start over from the beginning. I took time to think about what is web design and got the idea of the logo. I created the shapes of my initial HB by placing the squares that would look like a wireframe of a website. I also put the pen tool mark on the back of the card because I used it a lot when I designed something with Illustrator. I used Illustrator to design the business card.

  • StationaryProgram(s) used: Adobe InDesignDate: June 12, 2015Course: Communication 130Objectives: Use new logo to design consistent layouts for a letterhead.Process: I used the logo which I created for the business card and rearranged them in InDesign. • Web PageProgram(s) used: PhotoshopDate: June 27, 2015Course: Communication 130Objectives: Acquire a working knowledge of HTML and CSS.Process: I created the web page from pre-made html and css file that were given for the project. I changed the color so that would match with the logos color theme by using eye dropper tool of Photoshop. I also managed to arrange the image placement so that would be aligned to the center and have good amount of padding around it. Then, I tried to add more interesting feature to the background rather than just having a plain solid color background: I added some texture by adding some image over the color. I chose the title serif font that would go along with the Web Design in the logo.

  • Event AdProgram(s) used: WordDate: May 15, 2015Course: Communication 130Objectives: Learn how to create an ad only with Word.Process: I used only Word with this project. I started finding a picture that is interesting and be able to create some event that go along with the image. Then I scanned that image from a magazine. The magazine had some texture on it, but I thought that would go along with the message so I chose it anyway. Then, I designed an ad with Word. I tried to achieve creating flow in the image and sending fun and pop message by adding colors and circles. I tried to keep the design simple by choosing simple and sold title with only important imformation.

  • LogoProgram(s) used: Adobe IllustratorDate: June 7, 2015Course: Communication 130Objectives: Use only the Illustrator tools to create and draw your logos. Market research: gather opinions from at least ten people about which logo appeals most to them.Process: I used illustrator to create a logo for the brand that I like. First, I searched about the company and gather information. I decided to use a spoon which I draw with pen tool. I chose the color theme to be warm and trustworthy.

  • FlyerProgram(s) used: Adobe InDesignDate: May 10, 2015Course: Communication 130Objectives: Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.Process: I created four sketches with some different ideas, and then I created the digital version by using InDesign. I used circles in the design to add unity in the composition. The hardest part was to decide the contrast of the title and the back ground. I had to print out couple times to find the best contrast to it.

  • MontageProgram(s) used: Adobe PhotoshopDate: May 30, 2015Course: Communication 130Objectives: Learn to blend two or more images together gradually, using masks. Unify a layout with a consistent theme and dominant spiritual message.Process: The first step of this project was deciding the message. Recently, I started climbing and it requires lot of strength, self-control, and also finding a good course to climb up. Then, I fond the Elder Andersens quote about the road of discipleship. I decided to use one of photo that I have taken while I was climbing with my friends and put the temple and the scripture image by using Photoshop. Now, I decided the color theme to be navy and gold. I used the water paint filter on the main image because I thought painting is also planning rather than just throwing colors on the canvas. Then I placed the scripture image over the rock so that can guide us towards the right direction. I placed the temple because that is where we want to be ans

  • BrochureProgram(s) used: Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, PhotoshopDate: July 11, 2015Course: Communication 130Objectives: Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.Process: First, I used Adobe InDesign to create the brochure to decide what and where place all the elements. Then, I created the logo by using Adobe Illustrator as well as all the images that I placed in the brochure. Most of them were made by using pen tool. I used the color blocks on the front of the brochure and also inside to create unified design throughout the pages. I also used Adobe Photoshop to remove the background of the images and apply the text wrap in InDesign.

  • PhotoDesignProgram(s) used: Adobe PhotoshopDate: May 22, 2015Course: Communication 130Objectives: Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the layout. Learn basic photography skills.Process: First I took chose a color theme as monochromatic because I tried to vary than usual. (I like using multiple colors.) Then, when I was taking photos at the park, I saw red play toys. I decided the color and when I was taking the picture, the sun right came in the frame. I added more red on the layer just so that go along with the color theme.
