Water Softener — Iron Removal from Bore Water

2 - 20 m³/Day - Bore WaterThis package is pre-built on a frame and tested in our workshop. The design removes Iron and Manganese using Ion exchange of Sodium from a salt saturator. The controls are simple to operate with fully automatic regeneration. Includes an Oxygen Scavenger/Cleaner dosing system.

The range of fl ows can be as low as 2 to 20 m³/hr for a single system. Larger fl ows can be achieved by using multiple systems. The operator simply needs to add Salt and Oxygen Scavenger to storage tanks once per week.

New Zealand Defence Forces — Afghanistan Portable Systems

100 m³/Day - Variable SourceDesigned and built by Filtec. These systems are designed to be portable and cover various contaminants as below. This allows for water to be taken from various sources.

1. Carbon- to reduce organics and colour

2. Multimedia – for dirt/turbidity reduction

3. Coarse Cartridge Filtration 20 micron & 5 micron

4. Fine 1 micron absolute Cartridge Filtration for Giardia & Cryptosporidium 2 log

5. UV to treat Bacteria, Giardia, Cryptosporidium to 3 log

6. Chlorine dosing for virus reduction and reticulation sanitation and protection

The whole system is manufactured and tested in our workshop and includes a Transfer Pump to feed water through the treatment plant, as well as portable Level Probes to fi t any storage tank.

Queensbury Ridges Central Otago Subdivision

72 m³/Day - Surface Water/StreamAnother design and build system by Filtec which allowed the developer to meet the NZDWS and obtain council compliance for sections prior to selling them. This system was completely pre-fabricated and tested in our workshop prior to shipment to site.

The plant includes a Multimedia Filter to reduce Turbidity (NTU’s) and particles down to 15 micron, followed by a 5 micron Pre-fi lter then 1 micron Giardia and Cryptosporidium cartridges for 2 log. The 1 micron cartridges are remotely monitored for Pressure Loss (differential). UV is used to add a further 3 log Protozoa treatment, which is then followed with liquid Chlorine for reticulation disinfection. Note: the chemical dose tank includes a dose timer for accuracy checking.

AQ-Pro 10 Standard System

Up To 50 m³/Day*The AQ-Pro 10 is our standard panel mounted system, able to treat up to 50 m³/day. The complete package mounts on a board only 650 mm wide x 550 mm high x 220 mm deep.

It meets NZDWS 2008 with a 5 micron rigid Pre-fi lter and the UV unit is a top of the line Trojan UVMAX Pro that meets NSF55 Class A. The UV panel includes an Intensity Probe, Hour Meter, built in Flow Restrictor, Alarm and a Comms Centre that can communicate with SCADA and has a mini SD slot ready to accept a memory card. A 512 MB card will store up to 18 years of data.

Glaisnock Subdivision Queenstown

300 m³/Day - Lake WaterConstructed and pre-tested in our Wellington workshop. The system includes 5 micron Jumbo pre-fi lters followed by 1 micron Absolute Cartridges in a large stainless steel cluster-type housing. The disinfection and Protozoa treatment is done by two Trojan UVMAX Pro 30 UV units.

The outlet of each UV is controlled by an actuated ball valve which automatically closes if the UV dose drops below 40 mW/cm2 Glaisnock draws water from Lake Wakatipu.

UV TreatmentProtecting your water from harmful microorganisms is easier than you think. Trojan offers an easy-to-use, safe, chemical-free way to disinfect your water - using ultraviolet (UV) light. Simply put, UV is the best possible way to protect your water from harmful microorganisms such as E.coli, Giardia and Cryptosporidium.

UV Treatment

Key Treatment Technologies

Micro-fi ltration MembranesMicrofi ltration is a fi ltration process which removes contaminants from a fl uid by passage through a microporous membrane. A typical microfi ltration membrane pore size range is 0.1 to 10 µm.

Increasingly used in drinking water treatment, it effectively removes major pathogens and contaminants such as Giardia lamblia cysts, Cryptosporidium oocysts, and large bacteria.

The reinforced hollow fi bre membranes from Kolon have ultra-high mechanical strength. The PVDF

membrane layer has excellent thermal

and chemical resistance.

With a 0.1 micron absolute

pore size and IANZ accreditation

for 4 log removal of Cryptosporidium, the Kolon membrane produces higher quality water permeate than conventional water treatment processes.
