Page 3 Tupper Lake Free Press Wednesday, February 24, 2016 Shirley Savage, 78, passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her on February 19, 2016 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY after a brief illness. Shirley Ann Kavanagh was born December 4, 1937. She was the youngest of three children born to Vincent and Katherine (Edwards) Kavanagh. She graduated from Holy Ghost Academy in 1955 and went on to Potsdam Business School. She worked for the Elliot Hardwood Company. Shirley was married to her lifelong companion, Gerald Savage, on September 25, 1960 at St. Alphonsus Church by Monsignor Domina Breault. Shirley devoted much of her life to being a homemaker and mother in addition to dedicated service to her community and church. She worked tirelessly to help anyone in need whether they were family, friends, neighbors, or complete strangers. Her greatest joys were time with family and quietly helping others. She was an active member of St. Alphonsus - Holy Name of Jesus Church including serving as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She supported many charities and was passionate about helping children. Mrs. Savage is survived by her loving husband, Gerald Savage, six children Michael and his wife Lynette, Mary Ellen Snyder and her husband Joel, Maureen Harriman and her husband George, John and his wife Dee of Cicero, N.Y., David and his partner Clifford Shirley Savage, 78 Lorena H. Jay, 85, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Born March 30, 1930 in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Sandford and Florence (Kingsley) Dunham. Lorena graduated from Tupper High School class of 1947. She went on to attend the University of Colorado where she received her accounting degree. In November of 1950 she married Norman Hutcelsieder and was the book keeper for his construction company as well as other local small businesses. Together they had two daughters; Susan and Carol. Carol Jean passed away in 1971. Norman passed away in April 1979. Susan and her husband Dennis reside in Connecticut. Lorena was the proud grandmother to their two grandsons Dennis and Gallagher. Lorena worked in the accounting department for Draper Corp. and later Landvest, retiring in 1983. In May 1981 she married Albin Watras and together shared 25 years enjoying fishing in the beautiful Adirondacks and spending time with his Obituaries Ruffner of St. Petersburg, FL, and Christopher and his wife Melissa. Shirley and Jerry were foster parents for many years, the longest being sharing their love with Jocelyn Roberge of Saranac Lake. Much joy was brought to her life by her 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Stanley Moody and sister-in-law Leona Kavanagh as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her sister Patricia Moody and her brother Gerald Kavanagh. Calling hours were held at the Stuart, Fortune, Keough Funeral Home on Monday, February 22 from 4p.m. to 7p.m. Her life was celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, February 23 at 11a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to her favorite charities, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the National Right to Life Foundation. Lorena H. They enjoyed their time together on Lake Simond with his family; twins Marty and Vin Jr., and John and his wife Te. Lorena loved life and family, always cooking and taking care of friends and family. She enjoyed playing a mean game of shuffleboard at the VFW and earned her share of trophies. Lorena was blessed abundantly in life with children, grandchildren and love. Services were held on Friday, February 19 at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Name cemetery in May. Tupper Lake’s Reinaldo Alvarez will teach a free course on the creative use of the imagination at the Goff Nelson Memorial Library beginning March 1, starting at 6p.m. The aim of the course is to teach people of the creative use of the human imagination. Each student will be charged with creating one Creative use of imagination focus of new course desire they wish to obtain, according to the instructor, who will provide the students with the practical steps they will need. Mr. Alvarez noted this week that the particular desire selected by students doesn’t matter. It could be a new job, a new direction or to repair a broken relationship. Shirley Savage, 78, passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her on February 19, 2016 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY after a brief illness.

Shirley Ann Kavanagh was born December 4, 1937. She was the youngest of three children born to Vincent and Katherine (Edwards) Kavanagh. She graduated from Holy Ghost Academy in 1955 and went on to Potsdam Business School. She worked for the Elliot Hardwood Company.

Shirley was married to her lifelong companion, Gerald Savage, on September 25, 1960 at St. Alphonsus Church by Monsignor Domina Breault.

Shirley devoted much of her life to being a homemaker and mother in addition to dedicated service to her community and church. She worked tirelessly to help anyone in need whether they were family, friends, neighbors, or complete strangers. Her greatest joys were time with family and quietly helping others. Lorena H. Jay, 85, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born March 30, 1930 in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Sandford and Florence (Kingsley) Dunham.

Lorena graduated from Tupper High School class of 1947. She went on to attend the University of Colorado where she received her accounting degree.

Carol Jean passed away in 1971. Norman passed away in April 1979.
