USA TODAYTHURSDAY, JULY 6, 2017 LIFE 5D

In A Ghost Story, the most un-expected guest at a suburbanhouse party isn’t a bedsheet-cladphantom.

Instead, it’s Kesha, the glitterypop rebel of Tik Tok fame whohas been caught up in a legal bat-tle with mega-producer Dr. Luke, whom she has accused of sexualassault. The singer/songwritermakes a blink-and-you’ll-miss-itappearance midway throughGhost Story (in theaters Friday inNew York and Los Angeles, ex-pands to additional cities through

July) at a get-together in the for-mer Dallas home of the late C(Casey Affleck) and his partner,M (Rooney Mara).

The heady drama’s director,David Lowery, considers himselfa Kesha superfan, citing DieYoung, Warrior and C’mon assome of the “most anthemicpieces of pop in the last 20 years.”

He hoped to use a Kesha songin a party sequence, but woundup getting her to not only appearin the movie but also co-write atune that plays in the back-ground.

The cameo was a “crazy coinci-dence,” Lowery says. “(A) friendwas at a party that Kesha justhappened to be at and was like,‘Hey, I’ve got some friends inTexas and they want you to be intheir movie.’ Two days later, sheflew to Texas and did it. It was solast-minute and spontaneous that

I was really worried that she’d getthere and be disappointed andrealize that she had very little toactually do in that scene. ...Thankfully, she did it and had ablast.”

In the scene, professional ma-gician Jared Kopf performs tricksfor Kesha, who is credited as“Spirit Girl” in the movie.

“All of the dialogue is just himperforming and her reacting nat-urally,” Lowery says. “We set up acamera and shot it live, so it’s100% just her. But in part of hisroutine, he always invokes a spir-it. He knew what the movie wasabout, so he was playing it up andshe was responding. It’s very onthe nose on one level, but alsovery appropriate on another.”

Kesha’s song, titled Last Oneand performed by Detroit twin-sister duo Stereo Jane, was co-written with Toby Halbrooks and

Andrew Tinker, who wrote musicfor Lowery’s Pete’s Dragon re-make last year.

“They had written a beat with ahook and asked her if she wouldfinish it,” Lowery says. “She wentand wrote the rest of it, and it wasjust kind of a dream come true.”

The filmmaker hopes to againcollaborate with the singer, whohas guest-starred on TV showsincluding Nashville, Jane the Vir-gin and Animals.

“I’d love to make a movie juststarring her. She’s a wonderfulpresence and a wonderful humanbeing,” Lowery says. “I know sheloves whales and has a giantwhale tattoo, and whales are myfavorite animal. ... I haven’tthought that far ahead, but Icould spend 20 minutes justthinking about her personalityand her spirit, and a story wouldemerge.”

NOTICE REGARDING GUEST PAYMENT CARD INFORMATION

Trump Hotels recently learned of an incident involving unauthorized access to guest information associated with certain

hotel reservations. This incident occurred on the systems of Sabre Hospitality Solutions (Sabre), a service provider used

by Trump Hotels. It did not affect Trump Hotels’ systems. The Sabre SynXis Central Reservations system (CRS) facilitates

the booking of hotel reservations made by consumers through hotels, online travel agencies, and similar booking services.

Following an investigation, Sabre notified Trump Hotels on June 5, 2017 that an unauthorized party gained access to account

credentials that permitted access to payment card data and certain reservation information for some of Trump Hotels’ hotel

reservations processed through Sabre’s CRS. The investigation found that the unauthorized party first obtained access to

Trump Hotels-related payment card and other reservation information on August 10, 2016. The last access to this information

was on March 9, 2017. The unauthorized party was able to access payment card information for some hotel reservations

at certain properties listed at trumphotels.com, including cardholder name, payment card number, card expiration date, and

potentially card security code. In some cases, the unauthorized party also was able to access guest name, email, phone

number, address, and other information. Information such as Social Security, passport, and driver’s license number was not

accessed.Trump Hotels is working with Sabre to address this issue.Trump Hotels understands that Sabre engaged a leading

cybersecurity firm to support its investigation. Sabre indicated that they also notified law enforcement and the payment card

brands about this incident. Trump Hotels recommends that affected individuals remain vigilant for incidents of fraud and

identity theft by regularly reviewing account statements and monitoring free credit reports for any unauthorized activity. If there

is any suspicious or unusual activity, affected individuals should report it immediately to their financial institutions, as the major

credit card companies have rules that restrict them from requiring payment for fraudulent charges that are reported timely.

For additional information on the incident and steps affected individuals can take to help protect themselves against potential

misuse of their information, please visit trumphotels.com. If you have any questions regarding this issue or if you desire further

information or assistance, please do not hesitate to call 800-447-6105, Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. to 9:00p.m. Eastern

Time, or contact us by mail at 725 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10022.

Former Dance Moms realitystar Abby Lee Miller checked intofederal prison Wednesday in Vic-torville, Calif., about a two-hourdrive from Los Angeles.

More than a year after pleadingguilty in federal court in Pitts-burgh, Miller has reported to theFCI Victorville facility to beginserving her 366-day sentence. InMay, she was sentenced for bank-ruptcy fraud and bringing$120,000 in of Australian curren-cy into the country without re-porting it.

In addition to prison time, a

federal judge also ordered her topay a $40,000 fine and spend twoyears on probation after herrelease.

In the case, prosecutors saidMiller was in Chapter 11 bank-ruptcy when she tried to hide$775,000 worth of income fromher Lifetime network realityshow and its spinoffs.

The investigation began whena channel-surfing bankruptcyjudge saw Miller on TV in De-cember 2012 and figured that she had to be making more thanthe $8,899 a month she wasclaiming.

In prison, “I’ll just have me toconcentrate on and that’s differ-ent,” she told Entertainment To-night Saturday. “I’ve always puteverybody else’s child first, before

my own health, before my ownoutfit, before my own time frame.Everybody else was dressed andout the door and looking perfectand I was running around tryingto find a clean towel to take ashower with, so I think this willbe a little ‘me’ time.”

Miller announced in March2016 that she was leaving DanceMoms.

In an Instagram post, she de-clared that she would no longerparticipate in the series as shehad “ASKED, BEGGED, ANDEVEN DEMANDED CREATIVECREDIT FOR ALL THE IDEAS,AWARD WINNING ROUTINES,THEMES, AND COSTUMING”without success.
