Dear Middle School Parents,

Thank you for a solid start to the school year as we come to the end of our

rst quarter and enter our week October break. We hope everyone has a re-

laxing me and opportunity for students and teachers to recharge for the next

secon that will take us to our December holiday. One thing that has been

impressive this school year is the commitment of parents to the ISM commu-

nity.We have had record number of parents aend our parent coee

meengs, our learning consultants and most recently our parent teacher con-

ferences. The partnership and relaonship that we have with our parent

community is very important to us, and we look forward to connuing to

build these connecons throughout the year.

Parent teacher conferences were an opportunity for you to have conversa-

ons with teachers and to learn more about where your child is at with their

learning. If you need to have further discussions, or did not have enough

me, please be sure to follow up with teachers or the MS oce in November.

At the end of last school year my wife, Kelly Arndt who teaches in the HighSchool and I decided that this year would be our last school year at Interna-

onal School Manila. This is our 9th year and we have had a fantasc me in

both Manila and at our school. Having been both the Elementary and Middle

School Principal has allowed me to see student growth over the years which

oen we don't get to see rst hand. ISM is an incredible school, and we will

be leaving beer and stronger educators. We interviewed last May and I ac-

cepted the posion of Superintendent at The American School of Kinshasa in

the Democrac Republic of Congo. We will be moving there in July and look-

ing forward to new challenges and opportunies. I look forward to connuing

to lead our Middle School for the remainder of this school year. We are in the

process of recruing for the next Middle School Principal and we will be bring-

ing in nalist candidates mid-November to interview.

Beginning on September 13, dierent service opportunies will be oered on Saturdays. Some

events involve a trip to visit a service partner while others involve hosng a local educaon pro-

gram. Along with the joy of giving, students benet by interacng with children from dierentbackgrounds and geng to know the Philippines beyond Maka and Taguig. To parcipate, stu-

dents simply pick up a permission slip from the MS Oce on the Monday before the trip. Once

its been signed and returned to the oce, a student can sign up on the roster. Some trips ll up

quickly so encourage them to sign up early. Parent are welcome to aend!

Leaving ISM?

Please be reminded that parents are obliged to ocially inform the School in wring through aWITHDRAWAL NOTIFICATION FORM if their children will not be returning for the 2nd Semester.Families are encouraged to submit the Withdrawal Nocaon Form, stang the student's naldate of aendance, immediately.

For students who will be withdrawing at the end of the school year, forms must be submied on

or before May 8. Failure to submit the form in a mely manner may lead to a deducon of US$1,000 from the Facilies Upgrade Deposit (FUD), in compensaon for having held a space for your

child, prevenng the School from oering that space to another candidate prior to the holidaybreak.

The Withdrawal Nocaon Form can be obtained from the Admissions Oce or directly fromthe ISM website under Admission > Re-Enrollment & Withdrawal >WithdrawalsPlease feel free to contact the Admissions oce at 840.8601 for quesons or claricaons.
