Failure to abide by any of the code may result in dismissal from CSAT with no refund of program fees.

Main Goals of Junior Program
1) Athletes are having fun.
2) Athletes push themselves, individualized goal sets.
3) Athletes learn the proper safety rules for parks, halfpipe, and backcountry skiing.
Main Goals of Prep Program
• Fun and expand ski horizons
• Learning how to navigate mountain
• Learn and increase skill set for skiing off-piste and skiing switch, etc.
• Introduction to team dynamic, making freinds
• Increase confidence
A typical training day….
• Meet outside lodge at 8:45am, and get in line BEFORE 9am. (If an athlete is late for a session, they should wait at the bottom of MHX for the group, or until they see another CSAT coach to get in radio/phone contact with their coach.)
• Depending upon conditions, athletes may ski powder, jump off cornices, cliffs, or learn basic safety protocol while skiing in the backcountry with friends; Or… athletes may be perfecting tricks or learning new ones in the park and halfpipe.

• We will be shooting video when conditions permit.

Rails and Jibs
1) How to approach a rail and or jib.
2) How to slide a rail, proper body position, lining up for rail, etc..
3) Tricks; once athletes are comfortable sliding rails or boxes, variations and tricks will be introduced and worked on.

4) How to properly land regular or switch off of a rail or jib.
Jumps
1. Safety protocol: checking jump lips, landings, communicating with others in the park, dropping protocol, speed, etc..
2. How to properly pop off a jump.
3. Variations of grabs.

Halfpipe
1) How to examine the shape and quality of a Halfpipe.
2) Athletes will learn and practice the proper trajectory of halfpipe skiing enabling them to properly maintain speed.
3) Athletes will learn new grabs in the halfpipe, as well as working on ones they already can perform.

4) New tricks and spins in the halfpipe.

Backcountry
1) Athletes will learn how to assess terrain. This will allow them to determine where safe and fun lines, as well as dangerous lines, lie within terrain.
2) Athletes will learn the proper safety protocol while backcountry skiing with partners.

3) How to spot cornice and cliff landings and takeoffs. How to determine if a feature is safe and a good idea to drop/jump off.
4) Spinning and doing tricks off of natural terrain

Competition
• Level and amount of competition is up to athlete. Coaching will be provided at specified competitions.
• CSAT will have team rail jam or SKATE competition near the end of the season.

A typical competition day…Will consist of a warm-up ski with CSAT Freeride athletes and coaches.
Coaches will help athletes determine a good competition run depending on an athlete's ability, the features available, conditions, and how the competition is being judged.

Equipment
• Twin-tip skis, helmet, poles with guards ok, but not recommended.
• Impact gear optional.
• Only need one pair of skis, however powder specific twin-tips may help athletes have more success in powder.
• Ask coaches about deals on equipment.
